It's a steep hike up and the footpath is very rough (and very steep!) in places. Particularly if you start from the Maestro bakery footpath, that is a scramble up small rocks and there are bushes and shrubs to contend with initially, until you reach the rough concrete path. So wear proper walking footwear and take a bottle of water, although the olive groves do provide shade most of the way. I'd recommend a map too, it's not the easiest place to find unless you have one. But once you reach the church the spectacular views down to Parga town - and the Panagia island in the bay and ruined Venetian castle - are fabulous. Well worth the effort. Allow at least an hour to get up starting from Krioneri beach, although I did it in 45 minutes by keeping going. Allow at least 35minutes for the descent - it can be seriously steep. And do take your camera, and allow time to savour the spectacular vistas. The little church is charming too. There is a visitor's book. Recommended for an afternoon or...

I was the only person there at this hour too, so it was very peaceful. I took the path that starts at the back of the bakery “Maestro”. The first part of the climb is quite steep and I worked up a sweat even at this early hour. I would recommend wearing trainers rather than flip flops or sandals. The ground is rocky and slippery in places. I slipped on the way back down and in sandals, I broke my toenail! You walk through olive groves and the path widens out as you get further up, joining a “road” up to the church. You also go past a smaller church on the way. I believe this is the Holy Church of Prof. Ilia although I can’t find any reference now. Continue going upwards until you reach the path to the Holy Church Of Agia Eleni on your right. Explore the church, sign the guest book and enjoy the tranquillity; you won’t be...
Read moreVery nice walk to this church. I started at Valtos beach and it took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the church. There are no good signs on how to get there. As a result I lost my way and struggled a lot before I got back on track. The church is very small, but the views are...
