We had a really lovely dinner here last week. The restaurant is beautiful, really nicely done out, lovely lighting and ambience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are nice little touches like the little tray of aperitifs that they bring whilst you choose from the menu. We had the prawns for starters which were delicious and also the salmon with the sorbet - we were split on this dish with one of us quite liking it and the other thinking it was a bit weird and didn't really work and also the salmon seemed as though it had been slightly over cured. We did mention this to the waitress and we were very kindly given a carafe of wine on the house which we assumed was an apology for this and we appreciated. For our mains we had the braised lamb and the pork belly both of which were absolutely delicious and we really couldn't fault. We then shared a dessert of a chocolate fondant which was also very well cooked and served. We have given five stars despite the issue of the starter and also we did feel that the clearing of tables and a couple of little details were a little on the slow side but still felt that for the overall price that we paid the whole experience was good value and would recommend spending an evening here for dinner. The starters were pleasant enough but nothing outstanding. My husband’s pork was fine, but my pork belly was so overcooked it was black and the driest thing I’ve ever been served. Thankfully, the waitress handled it very well and removed it from the bill, which I appreciated.
We had been hoping for a polished, high-end dining experience, but instead it just feels like it’s trying very hard to be something it isn’t. Service was lovely, but overall it’s out of the way and not worth the hype or...
Read moreBefore we were seated, I'd decided I wanted the steak. Unfortunately, it was sold out. Tina, being vege, went for the mushroom burger and I had the ultimate burger. Both were fantastic and reasonably priced as I initially thought we were going to be ripped off!!. (I went for my burger cooked medium. It's a great burger and you can definitely go for rare if that your taste)
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Finished our evening off in the bar area which was still nice and busy...
