The Guernsey Millennium Tapestry was conceived and planned in the 5 years before the Millennium. It comprises 10 panels, each one stitched in one of the 10 parishes of Guernsey, each one describing a century of history from 1000 - 2000AD.
Both the design and needlework are beautiful and housed in cases with subdued lighting for maximum effect. There's an audio which enables you to view the panels and listen to the description at the same time.
I loved the fact that it was truly a community effort, visiting hospitals, schools and fetes for anyone who wanted to add their stitches. When I bought some stamps for my Tapestry postcards, the shop assistant said "Shall I show you where my stitches are?!"
