At a time when academia is moving from STEM to STEAM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics to the addition of A-arts)“The Hobby Place” comes as a boon to children to learn, enhance and apply the artistic traits in them both at school and in life in general... Thanks to the entrepreneur in Mrs. Savitha Shenoy Ranga for setting up "The Hobby Place" at #2768 & 2769, Haripriya Complex, Temple Rd, Vani Vilas Mohalla, Mysuru, Karnataka 570002. From what many have already written about THP - The Hobby Place, we get to know about the hobby place and the services it offers.
The Hobby Place reminds me of "a thing of beauty is a joy forever - John Keats" for every single thing here is so artistic and beautiful, it's such a joy to people who visit this art gallery. From the entry to exit everything is professional, the security at the gate - welcoming, the red carpet welcome from the stairs to office and work area leaves one impressed.
Our child happily learnt the basics of drawing, basic strokes, shading, drawing and colouring.
Not to forget, each and every one of the artists, students there were doing their work with "Meraki" (origin Greek: The soul, creativity or love put into something; the essence of oneself that is put into one's work). It wouldn't be a misnomer to say that THP is a "home away from home".
One also gets to read books from the mini library. Thanks for that as it means time away from the gadgets. Would like to add that the children get to play on the swing, the see-saw, the springy duck and relax on the Hammock, under the vigilant eyes of security and staff.
We got a chance to be among the audience for the final day of The public speaking course conducted for kids as part of the summer camp - it was so touching to see a few introverts actually talk in public, got their parents tears of joy.... Kudos! to the trainer. It was a humbling experience to see Mrs. Savitha Ranga address the kids - asking/guiding them to be Kind and Confident and she finally distributed course completion certificate.
Last but never the least we would like to thank all of you at “The Hobby Place”. Thank you!!!
May “The Hobby Place” grow from strength to strength. Let more and more people benefit the services, art and culture this place has to offer.... Dear Mrs. Savitha Ranga may you bring out many more artists and artisans from this place-the best place… May the tribe of artists...

For Me as a working professional who can spend very little time with my kids , this is my children’s home away from home - free of gadgets . My daughter since the past 11 years has practically grown up here every weekend and vacation trying and learning every form of art and craft from quilling, lip pan art, doddling, mysore painting , fabric painting , sewing . Even with her busy study schedule ,she tries to fit in pottery , ceramics , resin art tries and learns her hand at every new craft that is taught here .
My son , attends most workshops from public speaking , story telling , robotics , kids book club to young entrepreneurs experiences.
I have been part of the hobby place book club where I not only read and exchange perspectives but have made some of my best friends here . In my free time I too love to try my hand at painting , and pottery classes .
We look forward to our yearly family ritual of making eco friendly Ganeshas here .
We are so grateful that mysore has such a creative space which is always innovating and adding new art forms , workshops and programs regularly for all age groups .
We wish Savitha and her team continued success and giving us great learning and fun art...
Read moreVery disappointing experience! Sent our son here for a summer camp and was shocked to learn that this place does not even have basic infrastructure and facilities like fans and clean drinking water. Small children are made to sit outside in hot and humid weather for more than 3 hours where there are no fans and the children are left sweating profusely! Even the staff was rude and the communication skills were not upto the mark. There is nothing much that the children learnt during the summer camp but the charges are exorbitant!
Updated Review response based on the response received from the hobby place:
You have just proved that you guys are not open for a feedback! My child comes under 5-6 yrs age group and he was strictly asked to be outdoors throughout the summer camp (for almost 4 hrs everyday) attended and the result of which he has ended up having heat boils over his face and back!! You should be ashamed of yourself for not owning up to what has gone wrong and coming up with a lamé justification! My child was so unhappy with the teacher’s behaviour that he just didn’t want to continue with the camp anymore and wanted to get back to us in the midway and your management didn’t even bother to keep us informed because of the laid back attitude in handling children!
Nobody asked you to keep the children under air conditioning throughout the summer camp but the least you can do is be concerned for the children’s well fare and...
