Funky Monkeys Play Center Lower Parel — Attraction in Mumbai

Membership Card is a SCAM, do not fall for it.

We purchased Funky Monkey membership card which consists of 10 visits for 6 months duration. We thought we will save the hassle to pay up every time and would get some discount. But now we are regretting doing so. We have realized that if the place is booked for birthday party, other members are not allowed and welcomed. The birthday parties are on weekdays as well as on weekends blocking the entire duration. The place is always booked and there are hardly any slots when members can utilize the membership purchased. We being working parents can take our kids to this place only on weekends.

The card has fine-print at the backside of the card which says, call before to check if the place is booked for birthday party, if there is one, you are not welcomed. If you check one week in advance, get positive response, but on that day when you visit, you will find someone booked the place during the week and it is not available for members to utilize.

We faced the same humiliation from staff this weekend. It starts right from valet parking when the driver says birthday party is on, you cannot go. We insisted on meeting the staff for face to face conversation. We met some frustrated staff member who had finished her duty time and was moving out. She comes back in and says it is your mistake that you did not check. When you question, you get chided and accused that you are rude.

Customers and members cannot question and get their doubts verified?

We requested membership to be extended, this lady says she is doing us a favor by adding one day extra to utilize 5 unused sessions. When we protest, she says, she is going to punish us and cancels the favor which she had done of extending the membership. She picks up a marker and cancels the expiry date. Remembered the school days when teachers use to remove their personal frustration on kids by refusing to sign their homework, exact same behavior. This staff member did not have absolutely any client interaction or enduser management training. When other staff member saw the heated argument, he stepped in and asked her to leave and spoke with us nicely explaining company rules.

It was a completely humiliating experience and feel absolutely cheated by the company.

Later we had to face our daughter who has funky monkey membership but has not been able to utilize it because of birthday parties over the weekends. She was in tears because of all this fiasco, arguments and rude behavior by the staff member.

So...

We recently celebrated our daughter’s birthday at Funkey Monkey Playzone, and we are extremely happy with the entire experience. It was a well-managed and memorable event – truly paisa vasool!

Food: The food arrangement was excellent – delicious, kid-friendly, and perfectly suited for the occasion. Many of our guests specifically complimented the taste and quality. We were also pleasantly surprised when the team offered us an additional main course dish complimentary, staying well within the agreed budget. A lovely gesture!

Decoration: The decoration exceeded our expectations. The team went above and beyond by adding a few beautiful elements on their own, which weren’t part of the original plan. The combination of pastel shades looked elegant and festive. We really appreciate the extra effort!

Funkey Monkey Team: A big shoutout to Samina and Neha, who were incredibly supportive and attentive throughout the planning and during the event. They ensured everything went smoothly and were always available when needed.

Play Area & Tattoo Artist: The play area was a hit – not just for the kids, but for many of the adults too! The tattoo artist was a great addition, and even grown-ups joined in the fun. It really added to the lively and playful atmosphere.

Suggestions for Improvement:

It would be great if the food could be kept warm till the end of the party, as it was a bit cold by the time guests were eating.

The washroom area felt quite hot, which made it a bit uncomfortable while changing kids' clothes. Some ventilation or cooling would help.

Despite the couple of minor points, the entire experience was fantastic. Thank you so much to the entire Funkey Monkey team for making our daughter’s birthday so special. We highly recommend this venue for kids' parties and...

A reasonable place for soft play. Decent area but the cost was a bit on higher side. ₹600 per 1 hour session is expensive especially if your kid wants to stay longer. Then you could end up spending potentially ₹1,000 which is a lot of money just for few hours of soft play. A beach could be more fun and free, if you compare the enjoyment quotient.

The indoor cafeteria - looked like they are trying to compete with Taj or The Leela (pun). Have a look at the prices they charge - photos attached. A simple small burger/grill sandwich for ₹300?? Seriously? Not sure if this going to encourage people to eat inside or demotivate them from buying anything. My guess is that kids will insist on eating after getting hungry from playing and this is where they want to monetise as much as possible.

Also the staff are not attentive once children are inside play area. My kid was on slide and suddenly another kids just come down without noticing that my kid was still on the slide. Can't blame the innocent kid but if parents are just busy on their mobiles in the sitting area, at least the staff should keep an eye for such obvious incidents. Fortunately, my kids didn't get injured by the kick from behind but i felt staff which were roaming around without much work could keep an eye at least on slides, if not everywhere....

The climbing wall is only for 7+ years old kids upto 14 years. So if your kids is not in this age range, thats one less thing for him/her which is also a major...
