My experience at The Maharaja Bhog, A 100% Pure Vegetarian Restaurant, was unlike any other. We were warmly welcomed in the restaurant by the Manager. Once seated, One of the staff members brought a cow-shaped piggy bank for us to put a coin (provided by them) in it for charity through our hands”. And another employee made us wash our hands in a hand-held basin. The table was already set with a plate (the thali), countless bowls, 2 spoon and 3 glasses – 1 for the Welcome Drink, 1 for Buttermilk and 1 for Water. Then, the staff starting serving us the delectable food. My Personal Experience : I was definitely spoilt for choice but my personal favourites were the Sindhi Dal Pakwan Tadka and the Fruit Custard. After having eaten Dal Pakwan at so many places before, I have never eaten such Yummy Dal Pakwan ever in my life. The fruit custard took centerstage and was very tasty. The meal left me satiated. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect. With soft music playing in the background, The place was well-lit and the decoration was stylish. The staff maintained absolute silence and communicated among themselves by using sign language. Read moreThis review is only for the Maharaja Bhog at Lower Parel where my wife and I visited second time. We had gone to this place with family of 11 people yesterday evening on November 7, 2019 for a dinner and had an awful experience. Bill number is 8B00065963. Though the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, the items served were not worth mentioning. My wife and I had enjoyed food here earlier about 3 to 4 months ago; hence we thought of bringing our other family members who are located in south Mumbai, to introduce them this new eatery house.
We got the information over phone from this restaurant that it serves 4 vegetables, 3 Farsan, 3 Sweets, Rice, Chapati, etc etc. and price is Rs.600/- per person. No advance booking is done. Valet parking facilities is available.
We are disappointed to note that we were served with 2 sweets instead of 3 sweets (Shrikhand was not served though it was specifically mentioned over phone); service was so slow that we had to ask for the most wanted dishes repeatedly; quality of pattice was altered to poor filling which became tasteless during successive service. This gave us the impression that the stock of pattice has exhausted; food was served cold throughout, including all vegetables, Dal and Kadhi, except for the khichdi/rice/pulav which are basic items. No papad was served. Pickle, chilly, etc were looking dry as if they are not refilled. The staff was courteous and polite.
To sustain in this competitive business, one should compare their quality; the number of items and dishes served, including service part against price they charge. We will be reluctant to recommend this...
