The festival has taken over the city with exhibits, art installations, and murals by national as well as international artists, from Mahim East and Bandra, to Churchgate Station and Jindal Mansion. This year, it is also brought in collaboration with the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPA) to commemorate the 150th anniversary of one of Mumbai’s oldest docks, the Sassoon Dock in Colaba. Speaking of the importance of Sassoon Dock for the festival, co-founder and artistic director of St+Art India, Hanif Kureshi, says, “A festival like this, especially in partnership with the Mumbai Port Trust can unlock venues that people hardly visit, just like Sassoon Dock, which has been a part of Mumbai’s platforms on which the city is built—the fishing communities. But not many people, even those who live around it, visit it. Sassoon Docks has had this age-old problem of a fishy smell because it's a fishing dock. Eight thousand residents around the dock signed a petition to get rid of the smell. Most of them have never even been to the docks. Be prepared for the pungent fish smell as it everywhere throughout the location. Carry a amak or a scarf to minimise the smell. Try to arrive as early as possible to avoid long queues. Reach the location in the morning itself to avoid long queues. Free car parking is available inside the premises of Sassoon Docks. Just head straight inside the premises and ask any of the gaurds for car parking inside. However the parking spots are limited there try to arrive early. You can expect atleast 10-15 minutes of wait time during no peak hours and atleast 30-50 minutes of waiting in peak hours. Art Installation 1 is much more beautiful than the other two art projects.
