There is a nominal entry fee to this garden, however even after charing the visitors this Garden has not been maintained to it’s basic standards. This park is not at all safe and secure for multiple reasons i.e (no proper gardening, broken and dirty benches, unstable walk-ways, Zero lighting, no proper fencing, dangerous insects and spices, dirty toilets, ETC) which would be experienced and witnessed with your own eyes if by mistake you visit this place. Visit on your own RISK. I would be writing a letter to the concern department and authorities for restoration of this beautiful heritage garden which is located on the tip of south Mumbai. I will personally raised this issue with Mumbai Port Trust and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to seriously work on the improvement of this garden and make it nature friendly for the visitors specially for children and...
Read moreAn oasis in the middle of Colaba. The park is located adjacent to Port Trust Colony on Dumayn Road. Reached the park after sunset so can not presently give a review.
Subsequent visits to the place revealed that the upvan (meaning garden) has a walking/ jogging track both sides of which have a plethora of trees and bushes. The upvan has also a couple of grassy mounds which could make it an ideal picnic spot. The place has benches strewn around for people to sit but one may just find them occupied by romancing couples both young and not so young. In fact it turns into a regular lovers Lane come sunset. To be fair there is also a fairly large number of families in the upvan..
To conclude, Sagar Upvan which is maintaned by Mumbai Port Trust is an oasis of open space in an area which is full of private properties interspersed with...
Read moreHands down one of the best gardens in South Mumbai. Maintained by the Mumbai Port Authority spanning 12 acres. If you try to locate this garden using Google Maps, be careful of the small lanes which lead to this garden as it can be a bit confusing. The garden is massive with a direct view of the Sassoon Docks and the Arabian Sea. When I visited the garden it was also raining which added to the beauty and landscape. The garden also has a small hillock in the middle and a glassed cactus garden. Plenty of flora. It also has rolling slopes and a long running track perfect for walkers and joggers. If you have a keen eye, you can even try to spot Mr. Ratan Tata's house from the shore. Truly the landscape is the best part about this garden. All in all worth a visit and with a bit more of maintenance it can be...
