We reached here around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and this proved to be the worst dining experience on this trip.

The staff is disinterested in even showing you the available tables. We were on the ground floor, and we asked about their first floor tables, and the staff asked us to go check if there are tables available on the first floor. We got one of the last available lakeside 'tables' - the seating is gaddi/mattress with a tray table in the centre.

There were 3-4 available servers, and it was a task to seek their attention to place the order. There were two servers attending to a white foreigner couple, 'helping' them. I say helping in quotes, because they were literally standing around them, when they needed no assistance while we clearly needed to order. Little did we know, that was just the beginning.

Not only did we have to wait to order, but also to receive the food. After a long wait, they served us the starters and the main course together. We ordered the kadi pakoda, chicken pakoras (which were clearly not chicken pakoras) and chicken princess (the chicken was not even boneless and the sauteed vegetables had gotten cold).

While the wait and substandard food had already disappointed us, the cherry on top was the blatant racism we witnessed as well as experienced. We saw how Indian patrons were made to wait while the white foreigners were seated immediately (and no, they did not have reservations). While we were still eating, the servers kept checking in to see if we were done, because they wanted us to leave. During the billing, they insisted on a tip, which we refused and was given a pretty rude stare (mind you, as a couple we always generously tip, but it's for the good food and dining experience, not out of entitlement).

The last straw was when a couple rushed to our side and hovered over us while we were wearing our shoes, almost willing to physically shove us to get the seat for themselves. The food and the view wasn't worth the cost, or even the terrible experience.

The dining experience is clearly miles apart based on the colour of your skin. Don't expect good service if...

Located on the serene banks of Pichola Lake in the heart of Udaipur, Restaurant Harigarh stands as a beacon of culinary excellence and unparalleled hospitality. As you step into this majestic establishment, you're immediately enveloped by an aura of sophistication and charm.

With its impeccable blend of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisines, Restaurant Harigarh caters to every palate with its array of delectable delicacies. Whether you're a devout vegetarian or an avid meat lover, the menu is crafted to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving for more.

But it's not just the food that makes Restaurant Harigarh a cut above the rest. Nestled amidst the ghats, the restaurant offers a breathtaking view that transports you to a realm of tranquility and beauty. Whether you choose to dine on the rooftop or downstairs, each table offers a picturesque vista that's bound to leave you spellbound.

While some may lament the occasional delays in service, it's a small price to pay for the culinary nirvana that awaits you. And trust me when I say, the wait is absolutely worth it. From the moment your first dish arrives to the last lingering taste on your palate, every morsel is a testament to the culinary mastery of Restaurant Harigarh.

But what truly sets this establishment apart is its commitment to creating memorable experiences. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, hosting a kitty party, or simply enjoying a romantic dinner by the lake, Restaurant Harigarh goes above and beyond to ensure that every moment is nothing short of magical.

So, if you're in search of a dining experience that's as unforgettable as it is exquisite, look no further than Restaurant Harigarh. With its divine cuisine, enchanting ambiance, and unparalleled hospitality, it's not just a restaurant – it's an experience like no other.

All the 4/5 star reviews are paid, I'm pretty sure about it.

I booked a table through swiggy 12 hrs in advance. When I reached the place, they prioritized walk-ins. We weren't even given a lake side table.

A few moments later when a table was free, I requested if we could sit there. The host approved it but when we were about to sit a waiter stopped us. I called the host to reconfirm and he lied with a straight face that he never permitted us. Later, that table was given to locals.

We sat on another table and ordered some food and drinks. The messed up the order. My alcoholic beverage was different from what I ordered. My partner got a cocktail instead of a mocktail. She's a teetotaler. When we asked to replace the drink, the waiter gave us fierce look. He opened his app to check if he brought the right drink as per order but fortunately for us, the order had a non-alcoholic beverage.

The food was just okay, looked stale tbh. My alcoholic beverage too had a different taste. I am not sure if it was even authentic. The prices were way high. Easily one of the highest we paid here in Udaipur.

The decoration asthetic were pathetic. The light is dim so you don't notice it from out the restaurant but once you're close to it, you'll see how poor it feels.

I won't even go there for free food. I don't recommend it. There are a lot of places where you can find much better views and food.

Advice to owner and manger: I am not sure if you can improve the food quality overnight but the attitude of staff can be. It feels like it is run by goons! This was my first and last visit here, and I'll make sure none of my friends...

⭐ 1/5 — Hari Garh, Udaipur: Great lakeside view, disappointing food & value I visited Hari Garh Restaurant (Hanuman Ghat, outside Chand Pole, Udaipur) because of the lakefront location and the promise of authentic local food. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a classic case of view > food. What earned the single star • Stunning lakeside ambience. The terrace seating overlooking the water is beautiful at night and is easily the best part of the experience. Why the rating is so low • Below-average Lal Maas. The restaurant’s supposed “go-to” Rajasthani specialty was underwhelming in flavor and execution. For a dish that represents Udaipur for many visitors, it simply didn’t deliver. • Highly overpriced for what you get. My bill (attached) for one Lal Maas (₹840), plain rice (₹250), three tandoori rotis (₹60 each), fresh lime—salt & sweet (₹120 + ₹100) and bottled water (₹30) came to ₹1,596 with taxes (CGST 2.5% + SGST 2.5%). At several other good places in Udaipur, ₹800–900 comfortably covers a full meal for one—here that’s roughly the price of just the Lal Maas. • Value mismatch. The pricing feels driven by the location rather than the quality on the plate. When the signature dish is mediocre and expensive, the overall experience suffers. Bottom line Come for the view of Lake Pichola, but if you care about taste and value, there are many better restaurants in Udaipur to explore. For me, Hari Garh was overpriced with less-than-average food quality—not recommended.
