This is a family guesthouse runned by 2 brothers who are very friendly. So is the staff: the cook and Lakes who's very helpful.||The location is great, quiet neighbourhood on walking distance to Assi ghat.||The rooftop terrace has a great view!||Breakfast was good.||||Unfortunately what you see when booking is not what you get! The room on the pictures when booking was much nicer and looked clean. Especially the bathroom. The square metres mentioned are not correct. Room was smaller then mentioned on the website of booking.com. There were several bloodstains on the bedsheets. The walls were dirty. The sheets are not fresh. The bathroom is not well mainained with loose toilet seat, black marks on the sides in the pot, loose tap of the sink, all the taps have limescale, the door was very dirty, ....Such a difference with the picture of the modern bathroom we thought we had booked! When mentioning these things to the owners they told us that the bathroom from the picture is one of a room more than double in price... They admitted that the walls should be repainted....they used covid as an excuse but covid seemed the perfect time to make some changes. Finally they offered us a better room for the remaining 2 nights but my husband didn't want to change rooms for only 2 nights as it was a room with seperated twin beds and no Ganges view. The rooftop terrace is nice but should be cleaned better.||We planned to leave at night to catch a train to Khajuraho. The owners were going to wake us up and had arranged for a taxi to pick us up. At 3am there was no wake-up call. After getting ready and going to reception everything was closed and no-one to be seen. We waited but after 10 minutes there was still no taxi and we decided to leave as we were worried to miss our train but then the front and back gates seemed to be closed so we couldn't get out of the premises. We started banging on the doors and windows downstairs where the family lives. No reaction and still no taxi. Finally we decided to climb over the fence and walked to the main road. We found a tuktuk who drove as fast as he could and luckily we caught our train just on time. Stressful morning...||We believe the owners mean well but if they want to attract more guests in the room we had they will have to make some changes starting with true pictures on booking.com, painting the walls and clean the...
Read moreI recently stayed at Rahul Guest House in Varanasi with my friends and had a mixed experience. The rooms and bathroom were decently clean, but the main issue was the lack of hospitality when we requested an extra blanket and water bottle. They refused, citing their policy, which was disappointing. Also the tv was not working.
The guest house offers three types of rooms, with the cheapest ones feeling damp and poorly ventilated. However, the rooms facing the Ganges are much better in terms of comfort, ambience, and facilities, albeit at a higher cost. The rooftop seating area is beautiful, with a kitchen serving homely food. Guests can also use the kitchen to cook their meals. The rooftop provides a peaceful space to meditate and enjoy the view of the river and ghats.
Although I found the property peaceful, the initial dampness in the rooms and a strange smell in the bathroom were concerning. Leaving the doors open for cross ventilation helped resolve these issues. The guest house is a bit far from the main ghats, which could be a downside for some.
Overall, my stay was enjoyable, but the lack of flexibility and cleanliness issues with the blankets were...
Read moreVery good Guest House.. i had booked this online after reading many reviews. It is a place near Assi Ghat, so other ghats in Varanasi are somewhat far from here.. and also the way to it is at places pass through slum.. still it itself is a very good place to stay in this budget..
Terrace view of Ganga is superb.. Guest House is taken care by Mr. Rahul and His brother, who are always around. They managed boat from an undefined ghat nearby guest house and also manage cab, autos and also airport pickup and drop.. cooks are cooperative and food is reasonably good.. Running Hot water all day also.. Though it's not a luxurious place.. i liked much to stay there.. preferably you can book rooms facing Ganga for beautiful view...
