The moment i touched down harbor bay i straight went to eska as its near my apt. The reception staffs were friendly and i took a package with them as suggested. My 10 year old was having a hair treatment and i wanted to colour my hair to ash grey and showed them the photo and asked them if its doable n they called a stylist an elder woman and she said yes but she had to bleach my hair and i said okay i had not bleached my hair for almost 6 years. So i booked and appt at 3 n came down. Again i showed her the photo and told her it needs to be highlighted but she said my hair has different shades so no hightlights needed it will turned to ash grey as i wanted. She bleached my hair for 3 hours. I was already worried half way through and i ask hed her and she said fashion colour needs to be rebleached. My head was in pain but oh well beauty is never a pleasure right. After 7 hours my hair was done and it was light blue again i asked her and she says it will change cos of the lighting i went back with daughter who has been sitting with hours the next day i went back and did a foot massage and my daughter had a haircut foot massage was awesome. Upon leaving i saw the guy receptionist and told him im dissappointed and that i wanted to do a hair treatment the next day. He was nice and apologised and said that after u just dye ur hair the color is like that it will change. The next day i went back for a hair treatment and am really upset with my hair. No pun intended the guy who did my daughter hair 2 days in a row was great and the one who did my treatment was awesome. I consoled myself n told myself that it would be okay after a week or so. But nope it was so bad . I praised the guy receptionist and the 2 guys that did my daughter treatment n my treatment. The ladies at the the counter on the third day that i came to do my treatment on the 3rd day saw me and said oh this one. I went back to Singapore really really upset. If its something u buy n u dont like it u can always change but its my hair...it was totally gone. I expect damages but the color was the worst. Well i still hv my package maybe if i ever go ill finish it with foot massage or something but not hair . The least the lady could do was say sorry to me when she saw me on the third day nope she pretended she did not see me. Look at the photo after 8 days ....is this ash...
Read moreI visited Eska Harbour Bay last week (with booking) for a two hour aroma touch massage. Note that the prices on the menu does not include 10% VAT Govt tax. We made payment and was ushered to our rooms promptly.
The room felt cramped and we also noticed there was a lack of privacy. Customers are separated only by curtains. Hard to feel relaxed when someone can easily peep through or hear noise from other customers. Curtains are closed but gaps can be seen. To be transparent, I didn’t pay for a couple room. We were quoted 10SGD add on per couple. Maybe it would have been more private, but that additional price was steep and hard to stomach.
I was also given a massage bed that creaks very loudly every time pressure was applied. The management and therapist did not think it was a problem. After 10 mins, I decided I couldn’t put up with this noise anymore for the next 110 mins. Does any staff there not realise how disruptive and annoying this sound is? Not just to me but to other customers? I requested a change of beds and they gave me an another one just beside and it was much better. But can’t the management spare a few dollars to fix the bed in the first place? That already spoiled the mood which could have been easily prevented.
The massage was rather average and did not really felt full body. They served ginger tea at the end.
The overall positive reviews for this branch paints a false picture in my opinion. The branch had a well designed entrance that’s beautiful and welcoming. But the experience inside fails to measure up to its exterior.
If you’re staying at Marriott, it’s very tempting to visit here due to convenience. But you might want to manage your expectations. You can get better quality and value at cheaper prices elsewhere.
For a spa that has many branches and looks quite premium (and charge higher prices than average in batam), you would expect higher standards and quality. Sadly, the total experience was a let down. It felt like a profit driven place than a customer centric one. I will not be returning here or other outlets in future. I wished there was detailed reviews like this one before I made my booking here. I’m sure this would be helpful if you read...
Read moreMy wife and I been here before and made a trip down again for a celebration. My wife went to book massages for my family and she was told that they have a package that offers more and can cater to my family. Then my wife proceeded to explain that we will come for the massages in pairs, as we took turns to take care of my infant at the hotel. When our turn came for the massage, we proceeded to book our slots, only to be told that we have exceeded the limit for the day and can continue tomorrow. This important information was not communicated to us and the lady who sold us this package admitted that she didn’t tell us. So we asked for some flexibility as we are leaving the country the next day and she wouldn’t budge. No other options were given to us well but we were asked if we have family members staying in Batam who could use the credits in future. We are tourists and have mentioned that we are leaving the next day. We asked them to speak to a manager, but the responses was he or she wasn’t around. But they came back with a response saying they checked with their manager and it wasn’t possible to squeeze us in to today and come back tomorrow. So either the manager is in hiding or they lied to us. What’s more sickening is, we were then told that they will refund us the money and we have to pay Ala Carte. Why would we do that? Do they know the idea of how packages work? After trying more to convince the sales lady of our predicament, she eventually let my wife go and do a session. So the icing on the cake, the masseuse gets called up and she asks only for 1? So clearly the spa is not full today and could have accommodated us. Horrible experience. Thanks for ruining our day.
Well their saving grace is that they do give a good massage and the masseuse are genuine people. But the front desk and sales lady is not a service oriented person and only looks out for sealing deals without explaining terms...
