Magal Authentic Korean Restaurant Batam — Restaurant in Batam City

I love all the Magal branches in Jakarta. I’ve eaten in most of the outlets in Jakarta and it was my favourite Korean BBQ restaurant in Jakarta. So when I saw this in Batam, I was very excited and keen to eat here.

However… what a disappointment!! The service was miles apart from the Magal outlets in Jakarta. The service and food quality was very poor. The Korean seafood pancake does not taste authentic at all. They may want to check the type of flour used and the recipe compared to their counterparts in Jakarta. The meat was ok.. no skills here since we cooked it ourselves.

As for the banchan, it was shockingly limited. 3 types of kimchi, beansprouts, a spoonful of macaroni and salad which was soaked with diluted mayo… only the kimchi was good. The rest of the banchan was very very disappointing.

On top of it… service was almost non-existent. The staff seem like they were not well-trained.

What a letdown! I was very excited to see Magal in Batam but it definitively did not taste anything like other Magal outlets in Jakarta. Will not be...

I had the pleasure of dining at a Magal that features a spacious, clean, and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.

I initially went there just to try their adorable cat pudding, which had caught my eye. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the other dishes on the menu. I decided to try the Haemul Ramyeon, and it was incredibly flavorful and satisfying, even though I don’t usually consider myself a fan of Korean cuisine. The combination of delicious food and the beautiful, well-maintained environment made for a very enjoyable dining experience.

This restaurant exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning...

Forget the other reviews saying this place is good and food is authentic, prices are not worth the quality of food, worse than any kopitiam in SG, does not cook the food for you like in authentic korean kbbq places, and service is ridiculously bad. Took them 15 mins to get us utensils and rice which they forgot to give us, along with complimentary side dishes that we didn’t even bother asking. Mind you, there were only 2 of us in the entire restaurant with a crew of at least 7-8 people. Horrible experience, and food is bad, would...
