So disappointed for my hubby's Father's Day dinner treat from our children. Firstly our waiter Yudi was really good. We are from Australia and appreciate great wines, especially reds. We'd checked your website earlier and saw Yellow Tail 2018 selling for 1150rp ($115). It sells for $8 in Dan Murphys! But, we don’t buy it as it's pretty average. We ordered two cocktails, which we enjoyed. We ordered two x crispy pork belly. Whilst tasty, the crispy crackle was soft and the meat quite dry. We wanted to order wine but the prices were ridiculous for ordinary (Australian) wines that we know so decided to have two glasses of De Bortoli Merlot. I nipped off to the ladies but on my way back looked into the wine room and saw two bottles of Two Island Shiraz. I called our waiter and asked how much as they were not on the list onlone or in house! I went back to our table and told hubby. He said he tried to order the TI Merlot but there wasn't any!. Eventually Yudi came back with a really high price for the Two Island Shiraz (+ +) which, with 10% discount still made it nearly $100 for an $8 bottle. It is made in Bali from Australian grapes!!!!!v we asked for two glasses but we would have to pay same as TI Pinot Grigio e.g. $15.50 ++ per glass. We did that. The wine was quite average. We ordered our mains e.g. black pepper chicken and the fish pieces, both looked great. Hubby enjoyed his. Mine was pretty awful, hard to cut and very chewy, not succulent like the menu description. I was also recommended to order plain rice but it did not go with it as way too dry. I was so disappointed. We were both fed up by now so decided not to order a dessert and especially so after the couple on the adjacent tabke said the dessert was not worth it and disappointing! We advised Yudi of our disappointment and he passed this on. We got a small discount but too late, the evening was spoilt and led to this review. We would not recommend it, sorry. As so many Australians visit Bali, please do something about the horrendous hiked up prices of wine. FYI ... We went to the Bintang supermarket on the way home and bought a Reserve Two Island cabernet sauvignon for $38!! It was...
Read moreExcellent! 5 Stars! It was ‘Fancy Dinner’ night so we took a brief stroll from our beach front hotel to the Grand Seminyak at the very beach end of Jalan Camplung Tanduk, Seminyak. Greeted at the opening of the dedicated lift (5th floor only) and guided to our balcony seat overlooking the beach and the spread of the bay from Uluwatu to the Tana Lot headland. Did I mention the 5th floor? Random firework displays could be seen as far as Kuta.
The menu has a lot of very interesting and very tempting dishes, but I plumped for the Soft Shell crab, a whole one by the way, crispy fried with a salad of green and red baby tomatoes and pickled apple strings. Don’t be shy, use your hands. Michelle had the marinated swordfish, small crispy tostadas artistically stacked. Mains were a beast of pork rib Sulawesi Rica-Rica, sticky, juicy, porky. Served on a small grill pan from the oven, holding a still glowing lump of charcoal. Genius. I had plenty of fun manoeuvring the ribs over the heat source to crisp up the sauce. A tiny pickled, vegetable salad cut through the sumptuous pork. M’s main was a classical Beef Rendang with rice and trimmed with bitesize crispy breads. The attentive service was also to be commended and our dishes came out at the appropriate times. With a large European sparkling water and two frozen margaritas (could have been stronger, only complaint) the bill topped out at US$90 (Rph 1.29m). Well worth if for the ambience, food and service. We’ll be back on...
Read moreCame in for a sunset drink hoping to get something better than downstairs at O. We weren't sure if it was even open , no security or hostess to advise on the elevator. We trued our luck anyway.
Got upstairs and nobody in site, we thought it was closed , saw a chef and went in to be met and we asked if they were open , yes we are. Not a promising start.
We ordered 2 classic cocktails and 2 dishes. Our food arrived . A very strange coconut calamari dish, not great , it was chewy , tasteless and not memorable. We also had the soft shell crab , also not great and not seasoned well. We had almost finished tge good and not recieved our drinks, instead we were given welcome drinks (grenadine, lime and soda) lol, then our drinks arrived , very watery and not really "classic" . Also to note that there is construction in front of the building, presumably by the hotel. If they used a little bit of anticipation they would not have them working on the weekends and definitely not have the machines making noise during the golden sunset hours. Unless annoying potential guests is that your going for.
All in all , I would say it seems like a lack of care coupled with poor / no management , that has no clue about guest journey or customer experience. Such a pity, they have the location , facilities and positioning to be a...
