The idea and layout of this place are great. The pool is clean and the prices are really reasonable. It’s one of the few places you don’t have to pay for a daybed or beanbag, and the music is a good vibe without being overwhelming and the sunset was absolutely beautiful. It’s closer to 4 stars but the experience overall is quite average.
However there’s a few things I think if they changed it would be significantly better
The table and beanbags were covered in ants, you couldn’t put any food on the table without it being covered in 2 seconds and they were crawling all over my stuff. Getting the attention of waiters for table service is so difficult you really have to flag them down and yell out, or wait for ages (it took 30 minutes for the first drink.) having a QR code system would make this way more enjoyable, and they’d probably make more money
The bean bags were also really dirty so it just generally needs a wash and a refresh
Booking through WhatsApp was quick and easy. There’s nothing at the entry except for a pool so I wasn’t sure where to go- you just have to walk all the way through and past the bar to get to the main kiosk and get a seat. It looks completely unattended until you get to the other side.
It also doesn’t come up on grab so just put the closest address and it’ll take you nearby.
The drinks in happy hour were half empty and just tasted like margarita mixer. Not worth it. And when you get a bucket of seltzers, you have to get 5 of the same flavour, even though they offer 3 flavours on the menu (not a dealbreaker but odd.)
The food was fine, nothing mind blowing but it was cheap enough and did the job.
The staff were welcoming and lovely when you could get their attention- maybe there isn’t enough for how big the venue is? So they were probably trying their best.
Lots of dogs running around sniffing at tables too which was fine but I imagine would be an issue for some.
The beach view is also completely cut off by the hedge unless you’re standing so if you want cute photos infront of the beach you’d have to leave your stuff at the table for it.
Most of the bean bags don’t have umbrellas so during the day you’d be right in the sun, so message ahead and ask.
Overall- it’s definitely a fine experience and ticks the box for a chill place to sit for a few drinks. If they made a few changes with the customer experience in mind it could be a 5 star venue. I’d still go back, just know...
Read moreI came to Suka Sunset Beach for Sunday brunch with my husband and we had such a wonderful afternoon!
Firstly, the decor and atmosphere is fantastic! It oozes whimsical old-school Bali vibes and we loved the music choice which was perfect for a chilled Sunday.
Suka Sunset is right by the ocean, so you can hear the faint sound of crashing waves and watch the world pass by - bliss!
Brunch was delicious! We were fortunate enough to be attending the pop-up Parador brunch collaboration with Don Fernando which is running for a month.
We got to feast on soooo many dishes and left feeling very full and satisfied! Standout favourites were the crispy whitebait & the goat’s cheese, as well as the scrumptious caramel flan with dulche de leche - I could have licked the plate clean! Our server John was fantastic - very professional and attentive. I have gluten-free dietary requirements and John made sure to liaise with the chef to make sure that certain dishes were adapted so that I could enjoy them - excellent service!
Thank you for a wonderful brunch experience Suka Sunset Beach -...
Read moreUnfortunately we had a horrible experience here tonight. It started out okay but after about 45mins at which point we had ordered some food the venue became overrun with a group of about 20 kids aged approx 5yo. They were playing tag and kept running through our area including bumping into the couches we were on. When we asked, the staff did help us relocate to another seat but it was so disappointing the staff did nothing to try to stop the kids or even to ask them to stay within their area. Other than this the venue was just ok. No real view of the sunset, the DJ played the most boring elevator music and the service was pretty slow despite there not being many patrons. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza and it was soggy in the middle so you couldn’t pick it up without a fork. Lastly this venue is pretty expensive with no deals/specials in sight. Overall a super disappointing Friday night and I definitely wouldn’t go back with so many other fantastic options along...
