During our recent holiday in Seminyak, my partner and I went to ‘Chez Gado Gado’ a few times, sometimes with bookings and others just walking in, and every time, the manager tried his best to accommodate us at a nice table. Bookings at sunset times would be necessary though due to high demand.
On our last night in Bali, we stopped by for an after-dinner drink. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. When the manager saw us, he recognised us and wanted us to stay as we were unsure how long it will take to get a table and was thinking of regrettably not waiting and leaving. We told him we only had half an hour before we have to head back to our hotel. He promised he will find us a table and will rush our order at the bar. In no time, we were happily sipping on our cocktails, which to our surprise, came out as complimentary as a token of his appreciation for our patronage!
All the staff are always friendly, attentive, helpful and not rushy and it looks obvious that they have been trained to provide a high standard of customer service. Even on busy nights, service was always efficient and servers look chilled and relaxed and not over-stressed. The DJ and live band and performance all add to the happy vibes and chilled atmosphere.
Not only did we keep going back to Gado Gado because of the good vibes, but also we wanted to explore more of the mouth-watering food that is to really die for and the extensive selection of cocktails, all very aesthetically crafted and reasonably priced. Both food and drink menus were so varied that they would easily cater for various occasions, dining times and tastes. We could not possibly order all the food that we wanted to sample in one sitting, so we kept going back again and again.
Did I mention about the picture-perfect sunset and ocean view right in front of the restaurant? It would easily have to be one of, if not THE best location in Seminyak, to sip on a chilled cocktail while watching the sun slowly kissing the horizon. Nothing beats that moment when the sun puts on a magical show and paints the sky in all shades of pink, orange and golden while you forget all the cares and worries of everyday life for an instant. We had so many memorable moments spent there, which we will cherish for a very long time, thanks to Gado Gado.
‘Chez Gado Gado’ has delivered massively on so many different levels on each and every visit and we have felt welcomed and special on every occasion. A truly enjoyable restaurant/bar experience, where you are treated not as strangers, but more like friends and family. Keep up the good job and congratulations 'Gado Gado' team!

Gado Gado is, without a doubt, one of the most unforgettable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Nestled right on the beach, the location alone would be enough to make this place a standout — but pair that with an incredible menu, warm service, and the most beautiful decor, and it becomes something truly special.
From the moment you arrive, Gado Gado has a way of pulling you into its relaxed, beachy elegance. You’re greeted by the sound of the ocean and the gentle buzz of conversation from other guests enjoying the evening. The decor is stunning — it strikes the perfect balance between tropical charm and modern class. Woven textures, soft lighting, and hanging lanterns give the space a warm, almost magical atmosphere. When sunset hits, the entire place glows in golden light, and it’s genuinely breathtaking. It’s the kind of setting you don’t just dine in — you feel part of something special.
Now, onto the food — where do I even begin? Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The chefs clearly put care and creativity into every element of the menu. It’s a mix of Indonesian flavors and modern culinary flair, and it works beautifully. From the signature Gado Gado dish to the fresh seafood options, every bite felt thoughtful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We had the grilled prawns and a satay selection to start — both packed with bold spices and beautifully presented. For mains, the duck leg and beef rendang were highlights: rich, aromatic, and full of depth.
The cocktails were another high point. Refreshing, balanced, and beautifully garnished, they made for the perfect sundowner as we watched the sky melt into pink and orange over the ocean. I’d go back for the drinks alone, but combined with the food and view, it’s next-level.
The staff were fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They were more than happy to explain the menu and offer pairing suggestions, and they struck that perfect balance between attentiveness and letting us relax and enjoy the night.
Whether you’re visiting for a romantic dinner, a group celebration, or even just sunset drinks and nibbles, Gado Gado delivers on every front. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything so right — from location and atmosphere to food and service — but this spot nails it.
Gado Gado isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. And it’s one I’ll be recommending to...
Read moreGado-gado is indonesian street food, basically it's Indonesian salad with peanut sauce, but Chez Gado-Gado recreate and deconstructed the dish in fine dining way, casual fine dining way if you want to experience amazing food and enjoy wine, for especially the desert is ON POINT! Especially, Chocolate Lava Cake, BOMB! For wine, you may check yourself :)
A glass of Germany made wine, a plate of an exotic style of Gado-gado a la fine dining, and the breeze of night sea wind among friends was a great idea to spend a night with.
From the hotel I stayed, Double-Six Luxury Hotel Seminyak, Chez Gado-gado restaurant is a couple step away (you may see it on map, it’s indeed a walking distance) but at first I thought the hotel will provide me with a car, but we were three decided to walk because the hotel girl said that the street Is only accessible by walking or motorcycle. So let’s walk, to the right
We walked for about 5-10 minutes between beach clubs on the left and some restaurants on the right, and Chez Gado-Gado is exactly at the end of the road. Typically fine dining experience with the less light and easy listening music (you know, so our other senses can feel stronger, in this case, is the sense of taste). Chez Gado-Gado architecture is very Indonesian traditional Joglo style, with big trees on the terrace while people enjoy outdoor dinner with the sound of the sea.
When we’re at Chez Gado-Gado, why not you ask for a plate of fancy gado-gado? Or I can say fusion gado-gado, in Bahasa Indonesia word term of gado-gado can be mean “everything is there”, but not really ;p. Well, but it made me think that we need vegetables for appetizer right? Then the meat whether from land or sea for the main course, then something fresh and sweet to close it all.
