Bromo Holiday — Attraction in Malang

We found Bromo holid­ay, Malang, from good online reviews. This company arranged ­for our own pers­onal Bromo tours as the same price as a group tour, saving time otherwise waiting for other people in a group. The compa­ny also quoted a very good and reasonable rate for a one day tempak Sewu wat­erfall tour, with no down payment requir­ed.

Our original to­ur date was postponed for one month due to personal health issues. The owner of the company, Jon, he­lped us change our Malang to Jogakarta train tickets, which incurred additional costs, all borned by Jon himself. Our 4 star plus hotel in malang did not even reply to our calls to change the train da­tes. If the train da­te was not changed we need to buy new tr­ain tickets. Jon​ in this respect went beyond to help his clients. We offered to reimburse him imme­diately, but Jon said that we can pay him back when we meet. To this, I feel obl­igated to pay him mo­re than what he paid for the new train tickets.

We were lucky to have Jon drive our car to Bromo, which was followed by​ 2 other car and drivers wi­th their clients. All in we had a blast and great time, as we saw so much.We lea­rned that Jon has be­en doing​ his Bromo tour business since the 1990s so he is extremely experience­d. He knows the exact spot and locations for taking the best Facebook or instagram pictures. I was over the mo­on on tons of pictur­es that Jon took. The other clients also enjoyed their own photo shoots by Jon.

I am writing this re­view for others to have a great time in Malang​...

When we asked our hotel Tugu for a guide and transport to the Bromo, they recommended us Jon. There could not have been a better guide for the day because it was an amazing day!

At 5'oclock two jeeps were waiting for us at the hotel and Jon greeted us with a smile. The jeeps were in perfect condition and all the drivers and guides were so kind and cheerfull.

The drivers were very care full drivers so we had a very comfertable ride to the Bromo. On the way we had a great breakfast with an amazing view. This is also when we discovered Jon is an amazing photographer, he really does his best to make the best pictures possible, and this is noticable in the results.

At the Bromo Ibon (if I write it correctly :)) went with us to the top, and paid attention to every one so no one was left behind. At the top he stayed until the last one was ready to get down again, and didn't hesitate to go with me to the more dangerous side to make sure it was safe.

The ride back was again amazing, as he drove us to the most beautiful viewing point.

Jon also helped us with our transport to Bali, and this was very comfortable.

If I would have to do this trip again I would not change a thing, and definetly travel with Bromo Holiday again!

We booked a three day tour to the Tumpak Sewu waterfall, Bromo and Ijen (with drop off in Bali), and were very happy that we did this with Bromo Holiday!

Based on all the other groups we saw during these days I have to say that most companies appear to offer similar packages (with only the price setting them apart).

However, as Jon (who also speaks Dutch) pointed out he made sure it was ‘goed geregeld’ (nicely organised). I agree with him as 1) everything was either directly done by him or his brother in law, 2) transportation and accommodations were good, and 3) they were very punctual while also giving us plenty of time during the trip if need be.

The only improvement point that I could think of was the communication. This could be because we did everything in Dutch, but my girlfriend and I sometimes both thought we agreed on different things with Jon (such as pick up time, that Ijen opened later and we therefore could not see the blue flames, and whether or not transportation in Bali was already arranged).

Nonetheless very happy...
