Nusa Islands Surf School — Attraction in Nusa Penida Subdistrict

Superb experience! I've been surfing whenever I can for a long time and have surfed Costa Rica, Hawaii, UK, other Indo spots, etc and these guys really know their stuff. Made and Kadek were really amazing guys. It's always tempting when you can surf to just rent a board and a scooter and go exploring but this is a difficult place to get the sweet waves we all travel for by just guessing. These guys know Nusa Lombongan surf like the back of their hands. Surfing on this island is only good between a couple of hours before and after high tides and the guys will take you exactly where it's best for your level on any given swell or moon cycle. They also got more time standing for my lady, in one session, than I had in three months of trying to teach her in Cornwall. Basically got the best waves of my life over the last few days and she's singing their praises also after a less than attentive session in Lombok a few months back has made these guys instruction stand out even further. I had amazing 2 weeks with Kadek and his team surfing around Lembongan spots! He is a very experienced local surfer himself and extremely knowledgeable about all the waves at different surf spots.

For beginners, his team would only take few students to make sure that the safety is ensured in the water, and they start with selecting the appropriate surfboards based on students’ level after paddling and pop-up test by the beach. I’ve never seen any surf schools in Kuta/Canggu does this kind of assessment before surfing! They explain about the surf spot, safety precautions and where to paddle back and wait for a break. Very professional and beginner-friendly team!

Kadek’s local knowledge and advice on lineup positioning were so great, I could catch so many waves on my own. Definitely recommend exploring Lembongan spots with him even if you’re an intermediate/advanced surfer.

We were so lucky to find Kadek and Nusa Islands Surf School for our first attempt at surfing. We were an interesting group....all beginners ranging in age from 53 (me) to 11 years old (youngest son) so quite a challenging group to teach! But the team were so patient with us, taking us through the various steps and making sure we were confident to head out to the beginners break. We all got up first time and had the most amazing first session which is one of the best things I've ever experienced.

I can't recommend these guys enough. I ended up chatting and getting to know Kadek as we sat on our boards waiting for waves. He's a lovely family man who runs a fantastic small business and it was a pleasure to learn with him and his team. We can't wait to go back next year and move up to...
