Hai Ri Zen — Restaurant in Nusa Penida Subdistrict

By far the best service & food my partner and I have had on lembongan! We were treated to a lovely table right beside the seafront to enjoy a drink and appetitive( on the house ) and a cold wet towel before we were sat just behind still with amazing views but a little more suitable for a dinner setting. We were served by the lovely Ayu, who was nothing but kind and considerate she made sure we had everything we needed and were happy at all points during the night. We order bottle of wine and had calamari, pepper chicken and the wagyu beef. The food arrived in good time and as the menu points out this is a small plate restaurant so recommend as we did three plates to share was more than enough for a hungry Scottish man and partner. After our meal the heat was getting to us and asked for another cold towel and they were happy to oblige. My partner loved the scent on the towels and spoke to Penbri who rather try to explain what they use. She got the bottle of the scent and gave her a bottle to take home! We indulged in a banana desert which I didn’t think I had room for but it tastes soo good we finished easily. Just when we thought we were done with our night the lovely Juni came across to ensure we had enjoyed our night and make sure there was nothing else he could do for us. Juni then spoke to us getting to know us and have a good old talk. I couldn’t thank him and the team enough and would highly recommend to anyone on lembongan to visit here and enjoy a meal by the sea with some amazing service. An absolute must...

As we were strolling around at the beach on our first day in Lembongan, we found this gem by coincidence. The beautiful ambiance attracted our attention.

From the refreshing towels to the menu presentation we felt warmly welcomed. The wait staff has a nice balance being personal and available at any point but also giving us space to take our time- all in once.

We didn’t test the cocktail list in detail but the Green Island Mocktail and the Barrel-aged Negroni were clearly executed by professional and experienced hands.

Same with the food! No italian chef could have made this delicious Mushroom Risotto any better. The Salmon and Barramundi Fillets were both seared to perfection and the Wagyu steak melted on the tongue while still having a nice thin crust. All served with delightful supplements and suitable sauces all showing a proper high quality standard. Even the Farm Salad was made with the same precise attention to detail. Not to mention that service was super fast and out of a fairly small looking kitchen.

We had an incredibly lovely time in Hai Ri Zen. The place is just perfect for a sunset cocktail to start your sumptuous dinner. My favourite dish there was the Gnocchi. It was really nicely cooked and I had to order it every time we went there and I even have extra sauce to fully enjoy the mix of potato and cheese. I would also suggest trying the Potato Leek Soup and the Seafood Chowder. They also conjure a mean Risotto which you can order by itself or you can also have a taste of it by ordering the Seasonal dish. You can then top the dinner off with their Classic Baked Lemon Cheese Cake which was really good. They also have a good selection of cocktails and wines. I would surely suggest my fave - Irish Cream Martini. The food was really good and filling and you’ll also receive amazing service from their friendly staff who are very attentive. Kudos to Gita and their manager Junnie for their hospitality.
