I am not usually one to complain, but we had booked to stay here for over a week, but after only 3 nights we decided to leave the place as it was absolutely unbearable. The room was way below what I would expect from a 3* hotel costing close to $50/night.
The room wasn't properly cleaned when we arrived, and the state of the outdoor bathroom was appalling. The water that came out of the taps and shower smelled of iron which I suspect comes from rust within the pipes. You can see in the pictures what the bathroom was like.
One of the reasons we booked the place was because the reviews have been good, and the proximity to mushroom beach, but the same cannot be said for our stay here.
Our door did not close properly, and therefore we always had a warm draft and mosquitoes coming into our room. There was a mosquito net surrounding the bed, so that at least blocked them from entering the bed. Also in the 3 days we were there our room wasn't cleaned once, which given we on certain days left for 6+ hours should have given the staff enough time to clean the room.
Additionally, hoping the place was quiet led to some bitter disappointment, as there was chickens making sounds from about 4am, monkeys running around on the roof of the room at night, as well as dogs barking for hours on end (one night the dogs barked between 12am - 2am nonstop).
The air conditioning did work fine, and the pool was nice. Only reason this isn't a 1* review is because the location of the hotel to mushroom beach is so good and very convenient for when you get off the boat, as it is only about a 2 minute walk.
Do not stay here if you can avoid it, and choose a more expensive at least 4* option, if you can afford to because you will regret...
Read moreWhere to begin? We stayed here for 5 nights and it was 5 nights too long! Upon arrival no one particularly cared to greet us and check in was a difficult process - that’s probably because they didn’t speak A word of English. Our room had no lock on the outside bathroom door so any locals at the ramshackle premises next door could climb the wall and rob our room whenever they liked, no security whatsoever at the front of the Wellhouse so when the staff left at 9pm each night you were to fight for yourselves against anyone who wished to enter the grounds, our front door barely closed/locked, the sheets were stained, the towels falling apart and smelt of a foul odour. There was no hot water on our first night and on the second night the power went out for 10 hours - the non English speaking staff were of no assistance during these issues as they couldn’t communicate with us! The ramshackle premises next door housed a number of roosters and dogs who crowed and barked at all hours of the night and morning so we never got a decent night sleep. The breakfast each morning certainly left little to be desired - minimal amount and only 3 things to choose from. We organised for the Wellhouse driver to take us to the top of the island to a recommended bar/restaurant to visit only for him to get lost and drop us in the middle of nowhere - pointing into the distance saying “there there” in his pigeon English before taking his money, jumping into his truck and driving off - leaving us stranded nowhere near where we wanted to go! But the worst part - we had our suitcase ransacked and $150AUD stolen! Will...

I stayed here for four days. I rented a motorbike. but this brakes were broken. At first, I did not know it was broken because I only went straight, but when I arrived at my destination, I knew the left brake was broken. When I was turning my motorbike, my brakes didn't lift, so I fell down. luckily it wasn't a big accident but it hurt. It was dangerous because the brakes were not working on the curves. When I got back to the hotel, I explained to the staff about the broken motorcycle, but they did not say sorry, and they just say "I don't know". I am very angry at their attitude. i didn't want compensation, but there was no apology at all. When I asked for a connection with the manager, I said I couldn't connect him. When I checked out the next day, they said they had no change in the process of paying the rental fee for my motorbike. So we said we only have a big unit of money, but the said "we don't know it" again. I am so angry at their attitude that I would never...
