I have had the worst experience in my entire life while I was in the Kaveri Spa at The Uday Resort & Spa, and thought I should really share my story and advise people not to go to this horrible place.
First of all, the reason why I chose this place was because they offer a flower bath which I wanted to try, and also the place seemed nice according to some good reviews on TripAdvisor. Expecting to have relaxed time, I went in for 2 hours Kaveri Signature Couple Massage (US$130) with my husband.
It started with the flower bath for about 30 minutes, and then I was faced down for the treatment. But from the beginning I felt a very sharp pain on my back immediately and during the entire treatment, the sharp pain never went away but instead it was consistent. I actually tried to endure the pain, because I have convinced myself that perhaps they are using some type of massage tools for a Balinese Massage technique. After the Balinese Massage, the Therapist applied a Chocolate Body Wrap, and I couldn't bear the pain anymore and I just screamed. Since the pain was severe, I called the Therapist and asked about this issue after taking a shower. However, another Therapist came to me and said that It was an allergic reaction. I thought it was strange, because I had never ever had this kind of allergic reaction before, but I just went back to the hotel hoping it would get better.
The next morning, I went to the swimming pool, and my four of my friends who were traveling with me including my husband, got so shocked as soon as they saw my back. It was so obvious that my back had full of NAIL SCRATCHES and they were evenly positioned as if someone was constantly pushing those points with sharp nails. My friends took a picture of it to show the backside of me, and I was also very shocked. I immediately contacted the spa to notify the situation, but what I heard from their Manager Ngurah Yudawijaya, was even more shocking. she said that their employees were well trained and I had scars on my back even before they started the treatment.
Excuse me? Are you insane? If I had those scars already, you think I still would have a treatment knowing it would hurt? I was incredibly upset and shocked at the way that the manager responded to my concern, and I sent her photos that I took while I was in a flower bath. Of course back then, the picture shows no scars or rashes whatsoever and that was before I got the treatment.
Eventually I had to leave Ubud with no explanation or apology. so I requested by WhatsApp for their sincere apology along with a full refund, but what I heard was that they would give me a complementary treatment if I am back in ubud.
Wow... I am living in LA and has no plan to go to Ubud anymore. And just in case, even if I do, do they think I would go back to that spa for the horrible treatment? It has been almost three weeks now and I still have the scars on my back. Didn’t imagine leaving Ubud with this horrible memory and scar but here I am regretting that I chose that spa. So everyone...
Read moreHad the most disappointing experience in this spa. I had far more superior service from cheaper spas in and around Ubud where they provided careful attention to detail and loving treatments. I booked in a pampering session for myself and my partner based on reviews of this place. I had high expectations. But clearly this is just a marketing gimmick with their floral baths bring promoted. We were there very first session in the morning and were rushed into the rooms with no proper welcome. During the massage because the flower bath was created the night before they had to drain out the old water and put in new hot water to keep the temperature. This was so annoying as the taps are right behind our ears and during the massage all we heard was pounding water. Further despite requesting for a silent room we were put right in front of the reception area where we constantly heard noises. Both the ladies who provided the treatment were bellow average in their technique. This was surprising because we had such a good experience with the masseurs in other spas. Our session included a mini facial. During this they used dirty smelly sponges on my face which were probably old and not cleaned properly from other guests. It was so unpleasant everytime she scrubbed my face with it. Also the technique used to clean my face was quite harsh and not how you would expect to be treated with long slow strokes. Overall an extremely disappointing experience, over priced just because the spa belongs to a 4 star hotel. We travel a lot and use spas very regularly on a weekly basis as this is something we enjoy and both of us left Kaveri disappointed, underwhelmed and felt ripped off our money which we would have used in one of the better numerous spas in Ubud. My advise is to please count your coins and go for one of the other places. We found the treatments in putri much better. I provided this feedback to the front desk and the customer team who offered me a dismal 10% discount on the next treatment. I would never go there again even if they offered me a free treatment. It was that awful. Kaveri please provide your customers more caring service and perhaps more attention to detail. You will pick these little nuances from other places which is the...
Read moreThis is the most sought after Spa in Bali due to their beautiful flower baths and the experience here was very brag-gable (I know that’s not a real word) but it was a really magnificent experience. We arrived early and was served tea. We had the opportunity to enjoy the jacuzzi while we waited. Our rooms were located away from the main hall over a bridge but the scenery was very serene and relaxing, they had a cute heart shaped bench to take photos on. We chose the Celebration of Flowers which is just a regular bath with an amazing flower arrangement. You get to choose from several available patterns or you can consult with them via email for a more personalized pattern. You have an assigned staff member who turns into your own personal photographer once you get into the room. She guides you on how to enter the bath so that flowers are swooshed all over and pattern destroyed. The most spectacular thing about this bath is the floral arrangement, after you’ve gotten in and taken all of the pics you want you have time to just soak and relax. Turn on some music on your phone and look out the glass windows at the outside scenery & foliage. It was definitely a bucket list item and the experience did not disappoint. If you have the opportunity to visit Thailand you must give this...
