March 2024: Edit: another stay a year later and still as good! March 2023: I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dinara Ubud, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the level of service and attention to detail. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they went out of their way to ensure that I had everything I needed. They even provided me with some great recommendations for things to do and see in the area. The room was absolutely stunning. It was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with traditional Balinese accents. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept like a baby every night. The bathroom was also fantastic - it had a huge bathtub and a separate huge shower, and the toiletries provided were top-notch. But the highlight of my stay was definitely the amazing pool area. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring Ubud. The pool was large and sparkling clean, and the surrounding lounge beds and umbrellas provided the perfect amount of shade and comfort. I also had the pleasure of dining at the on-site restaurant daily, and the food was absolutely delicious. The menu offered a great variety of traditional Balinese dishes, as well as a ton of super clean health focussed meals! not to mention the daily included breakfast, Overall, I would highly recommend Dinara Ubud to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Ubud. The level of service, attention to detail, and beautiful amenities made my stay truly unforgettable. Five stars!

Polite Staff and Great Restaurant, But Poor Cleaning & Facilities I didn’t think it was worth the 4-star rating, except for the restaurant (which might even deserve 5 stars). The staff was generally nice and polite, but the hotel facilities were very poor. Although the hotel offered us complimentary desserts after hearing our feedback, it was still a disappointing experience. Upon entering the room, there was a strong smell of mold, and the towels were dirty and looked gray. During our 3 night stay, only the towels on the 2nd night looked clean; on the 3rd day, the towels had strange brownish spots and felt dirty. Some bed sheets had mold spots, and both the sheets and quilts felt humid and damp, making it hard to sleep. We requested dehumidifiers, but the hotel only had one, which we had to share between rooms. We had booked two rooms at the same time in the same order, but our rooms were not arranged next to each other, which was inconvenient. The furniture, tables, and bathroom sink were very dirty, as though they hadn’t been cleaned for a very long time. Only thongs were provided instead of slippers, and they looked dirty and heavily used. The shower room was large, but the shower head was loose near the wall, making the angle unadjustable. We had to stand very close to the wall, but the tile directly under the shower was loose and wobbly, making it difficult to stand on. The room’s lighting was way too dim (bathroom is ok), which was very inconvenient for applying makeup—I couldn’t see what I was doing….

Really lovely hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a package holiday and I couldn't have chosen a better hotel. Everything was amazing from the staff, to the rooms, the hotel grounds and the breakfast too. We got here after a marathon trip from London and were extremely tired, the reception staff were so welcoming and friendly and gave us a lovely refreshing welcome drink. They gave us an upgrade which was really nice, and definitely appreciated and cements the great hospitality at this hotel. The room was more like a suite as it was fairly big and was well stocked with complimentary toiletries as well as a lovely welcome fruit basket. The hotel runs a shuttle bus into the centre of Ubud which we took advantage of during our stay. Breakfast was served at 7am and on the day we had a trip booked the staff at reception kindly took our order for a takeaway breakfast, which was made up of lovely fresh fruit, bread and jam and a couple of boiled eggs. They do an afternoon tea, which is served in the restaurant overlooking the pool area. We stayed here on a b&b basis and the breakfast was spectacular; everything was fresh and healthy, and beautifully presented. This hotel is ideally located if you're looking for peace and quiet. There are a few restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance and there is a spa next door to the Dinara. Out of the 3 hotels we stayed in in Bali, this was by far my favourite. Couldn't fault it.

"Stylish Hotel with Major Mold Issues"

Hotel Dinara has a modern design and feels newer than many hotels in Ubud, but unfortunately, it struggles with serious mold problems due to poor construction.

From the start, it was hard to ignore. Mold stains were visible on the ceilings, poorly painted over without proper treatment. The biggest issue was the bedding—on the first day, there was a strong moldy smell. When I checked the pillows, they were covered in mold stains beneath the extra pillow covers. After asking for new pillows, the replacements had the exact same issue. The receptionist calmly explained, “All the pillows in the hotel are like this,” and insisted the black stains weren’t mold.

By the second day, the mold smell became unbearable, and we requested a room change. We checked three other rooms, but they all had the same damp smell. In the end, we didn’t switch rooms but were given a dehumidifier. The humidity level in our room was initially 86%, but after running the dehumidifier for two days, it dropped to 55%, making the space much more comfortable.

One major positive was the staff—they were incredibly kind and really did their best to help, even though their English wasn’t always perfect. Their efforts definitely made a difference in the overall experience.

We understand that the heavy rainfall in recent months worsened the situation, and the staff truly did all they could, but this is clearly an issue the owner needs to address.

It’s disappointing because the hotel has potential, but the severe mold problem makes it hard to fully enjoy the stay. Until proper renovations and better moisture control are implemented, I wouldn’t recommend it—especially for guests sensitive to damp environments.

probably in the summer months it is a great stay. The breakfast was really good. there was 2 times a week free yoga, GREAT teacher. Bed was really soft. few times a day a shuttle into UBUD.

Unfortunately due to the heavy rains the pool was green, I guess in April it all will be better.

We have been reading in a few reviews that people had the mold problems but we thought aah it will not be so bad (since it only pops up in 3-4 reviews) but unfortunately it is a problem, definitely for people with lung issues.

The rest of the hotel looks exactly like the pictures. thanks to the staff for...

A Five-Star Honeymoon Experience at Dinara Ubud

Our honeymoon stay at Dinara Ubud has been nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality from the entire team, making us feel truly welcome and valued. Every interaction with the staff reflected professionalism and genuine care, creating an atmosphere where we could fully relax and enjoy every moment.

The room we stayed in was immaculate, with elegant decor and thoughtful amenities that made it feel like a luxurious home away from home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the serene view from our window enhanced the sense of tranquility. Everything was perfectly maintained, and the attention to detail in every corner of the room did not go unnoticed.

The culinary experience at the hotel’s restaurant was outstanding! Every dish, from the rich breakfasts to the refined dinners, was a treat for the senses. The fusion of traditional Balinese flavors with international touches made each meal unique. We were especially impressed by the presentation and freshness of every ingredient.

One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the infinity pool. Surrounded by lush greenery, it provided the perfect setting for relaxation and stunning panoramic views. Whether we were enjoying a swim at sunrise or winding down during sunset, the pool offered a sense of peace that we will carry with us long after our stay.

Additionally, the overall facilities of the hotel were top-notch, from the spa services that offered rejuvenating treatments to the convenient concierge service that helped us explore the beauty of Ubud. Every detail of the hotel felt perfectly aligned with our desire for a seamless and memorable experience.

Dinara Ubud has truly set a high standard for what a honeymoon experience should be. We are grateful for the impeccable service, beautiful surroundings, and unforgettable moments we’ve shared here. Without a doubt, we will enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an extraordinary getaway in Ubud.

Thank you, Dinara Ubud, for making our honeymoon an experience to...
