If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I have stayed at Udaya and used the spa 3-4 times during my multiple times to Bali and so I recommended to a group I was hosting that we visit Deeva restaurant as I’d had a positive experience there. It turns out, this was a one off as with a group of 10 of us, it was pure shambles. When we finished our spa treatments we went to the restaurant where we’d made a booking only for them to say they weren’t expecting us. Our group had to put our tables together ourselves. They were quick to take our drinks order because we wanted the happy hour (which stated 2 for 1 cocktails on an advertisement in the spa) but these took 40 minutes to arrive and they gave the wrong drinks to the wrong people. We were then told 2 for 1 was only on cocktails, which was not correct according to their advertisements downstairs. We all ordered food and while the Nandi Goreng wa great, the other dishes were not. Two of our party were chefs and they both sent their dishes back because they were not prepared as listed and were in edible. One of our party, who has a severe tree nut allergy, was brushed off when she asked about what she could eat and her food never arrived. The staff would say ‘I’m sorting it’ and then never do anything. Another of our party ordered sparkling wine by the glass as it was listed on the menu and it took them 40 minutes to tell her that they could not serve it because it would mean opening another bottle - that’s kind of how serving sparkling wine works? Our second drinks were ordered in to go cups and they took a further 40 minutes to come, when most of our party were leaving. The staff tried following them to the car to give to them which was a bit weird. When I spoke to the staff they were incredibly rude and kept saying ‘we’re doing it’ even though they were doing nothing. Considering it was only us and one other table of 3 in there, it was abysmal. I had to tell them at one point to stop lying to me. When the bill came items that they said wouldn’t be on the bill were still there and it was just the cherry on top that they couldn’t remove the service charge. Now, after we left bad reviews they’ve added their own positive reviews to make their rating on google go up. Fits in perfectly with their theme of lying to us all night, they now want to lie to their other...
Read moreI dined at Deeva Restaurant at The Udaya in Bali for a private dinner, and the experience was truly special in many ways. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptional service — warm, attentive, and very intentional in creating a meaningful dining atmosphere. The staff here really know how to make guests feel cared for.
The setting itself is beautiful and incredibly scenic, with lush greenery surrounding the space and that peaceful, signature Ubud ambience. Because we booked a private dinner, the setup was absolutely stunning — thoughtfully decorated, romantic, and intimate. It felt curated and personal, as though every detail was chosen to elevate the experience.
When it came to the food, I’d say it was good but not particularly memorable overall, with one standout dish. The highlight for me was the sea bass, which was flavorful, well-prepared, and honestly delicious — definitely the star of the meal. The rest of the dishes were just okay, not bad by any means, but they didn’t impress at the same level as the setting and service.
That said, the overall experience was still lovely thanks to the surroundings, the ambiance, and the staff’s hospitality. If you’re looking for a beautifully decorated private dining moment with exceptional service and serene vibes, this is a wonderful choice. And if you go, get the sea bass — it...
