My first ever google review goes to this amazing museum with its wonderful staff and pride for local social history. We cannot recommend this enough!
This is an old residence that has been converted to multiple exhibition spaces, including one about the military Carrol family and another on taxidermy’s role in helping us understand climate change and maritime pollution. Our tour guide John was enthusiastic about the museum and the project. Come see a suit belonging to Napoleon’s brother, a tontine contract, various excavated items from the yard, and some beautiful rowing trophies. Read moreThe guided tour (only €6) was so fascinating about the lives of those that would have lived in this Georgian house. Cathal our guide was brilliant in bringing to life how Mary the servant would have looked after a wealthy family living in the house. On top of that, each of the rooms hold historic artefacts and Museum collections from Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes) to Pharmeceutical wares and Jewellery collections of the past. Read moreMy wife and I stumbled upon The People's Museum of Limerick on our first ever visit to Limerick this past week. We have travelled in Europe and the US and spent time living and travelling in Japan so we have seen a little bit. This was up there as one of the best tourist experiences we have ever had. The building itself is amazing and is filled with incredible contents. Ending up having the place to ourselves and having a personal tour guide too was a nice touch.
