101 Maggie Choo’s - HIDDEN GEM Had a spectacular night with the missus starting in Cornstore for a bite to eat then hunters sports bar for some arcade fun but I’m so glad I suggested to go to 101 for one last pint before going home. Little did we know there would be a young bubbly mixologist by the name of Niamh creating cocktails and slinging pints behind the bar. What was suppose to be a pint turned into 8 of the most delightful cocktails we had ever had. Niamh is one to hold on to, for anyone going out tonight swing by and if she’s commanding the station, lucky is what you are. The cocktails looked like pieces of art and tasted even better. Enjoy her talents, tip her well and she’ll turn a night out into a memory never forgotten!!!

I went to this place for brunch, and although we had a good time overall, there’s room for improvement. We had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated, even though our reservation was for 4 PM, and there were some issues with our table at the start. The service was also quite slow, as it took a long time for all the food and drinks to arrive. That said, I’d like to thank Leticia, who made our experience much better with her attention and support.

I invited some friends to celebrate my birthday at 101, I made a reservation a few days in advance, and I only have compliments because from the first contact I was very well served, and on the day we got there and everything was ready and waiting for us, for me 101 is the best place in Limerick for any type of celebration whether large or small group or just a couple dinner, I recommend it because the service is fantastic.

101 Bar is a disgrace to Limerick nightlife. I’ve been out plenty of times, well-dressed, sober, professional — and twice now I’ve been blocked at the door here while my white Brazilian friend is waved straight through with a smile. Me? Brown skin apparently equals “no entry.” No explanation, no reason, just bouncers on a power trip smirking like they own the street.

These are the same door staff that dragged Icon’s reputation into the gutter. Everyone in Limerick knows Icon fell apart because of toxic, arrogant bouncers who turned away good customers for sport. Now the same crew is at 101, and guess what? They’re repeating history. This isn’t about safety, it’s not about dress code, it’s not about behaviour — it’s about humiliation. People in sharp, beautiful, professional attire are getting turned away like dirt.

What makes it worse is that this isn’t just my story. Scroll the reviews, you’ll find plenty of people saying the same thing: rude, aggressive, unprofessional security at 101. It’s a pattern, not an accident. And management clearly doesn’t care, because if they did, this would’ve been fixed already. Instead, they let racist, power-tripping bouncers decide who deserves to step inside and who gets humiliated in front of a crowd.

If you’re brown, don’t waste your time. If you’re white, congrats, you’ll probably walk straight in while your friends are left outside. And if you’re management reading this, understand: you’re not protecting your venue, you’re destroying it. You already lost Icon, and you’re going to lose 101 the exact same way.

Shame on this bar, shame on its door staff, and shame on anyone defending this kind of treatment in 2025. Customers deserve respect. We deserve fair entry. Instead, 101 Bar gives us racism, arrogance, and humiliation....

Visited last night with two friends. The bar itself was very nice, we were in the Opium section. The music was great and I love how it's decorated. However, the bouncers really put a damper on our night. As soon as we got out of our taxi and approached the bouncers one of them said "Management reserves the right to entry". Baffled, I asked was there a private function or something on. He shook his head while he and the other bouncer stood there smirking. We asked was there a reason we weren't being allowed to enter but he just kept repeating that line. He went inside and we asked the other bouncer was there a reason but he just smirked and shrugged his shoulders. When the other guy came back, he whispered something into his ear and suddenly they told us we were allowed to come in. We were dressed appropriately, we weren't drunk. We spent the rest of our night wondering what the issue could have been, which really took away from our experience.

I have to say the staff inside the bar were all very friendly. One of the girls, I believe her name was Katie H, asked us was everything ok and we told her what had happened. She was very apologetic and told us she'd let management know.

It's a pity this happened as it would really put me off going here again, even though I really liked the bar. If you are going to refuse entry, at least give a proper reason and be genuine. Refusing people to get a power trip and try to put a damper on people's nights is...

Myself and wife went to limerick city with 2 more couples for our anniversary we booked weeks in advance for a table for dinner we drove from Dublin. Got to one o one @7 pm as we walking up to the door. Little small bouncer looked us up and down, we said hi. Then he said sorry not happening tonight folks we thought it was a joke at first until he put his hand out stopping us.told him we have table booked he didn’t want to know we showed email he said management has Wright to refuse. We are all in our 40s all well dressed and professionals and mind you zero alcohol on board. Never gave us any reason one of our friends is a paramedic firefighter and he’s 6ft add non drinker. His wife is a nurse. They said they seen him looking him up when they stood with use. This door man said he was the head door man and he was management too. When we ask could we please speck with a manager. Clearly couldn’t care about tourism for business I just hope your own locals and keep your business going. We went to better place in the end where the door staff was so professional opened the door said folks enjoy your night. We spoke with the door staff there and they said well that does not surprise me. Hence the reason for his broken Nose, he...
