Teatro Romano ad Aosta si trova nell’area archeologica accessibile sia da via Porta Praetoria, sia da via Julien Charrey. il Teatro Romano fu edificato in epoca romana alcuni decenni dopo la fondazione della città, il Teatro Romano rappresenta una delle strutture meglio conservate di Augusta Praetoria. La facciata, alta 22 metri e oggi rimasta solo sul lato sud, dà l’idea dell’imponenza e della perizia tecnica dei romani. Il proscenio aveva infatti una lunghezza di 45 metri per 7 di profondità. Dalle dimensioni delle gradinate, non si può escludere che il Teatro potesse ospitare fino a 4000 spettatori circa. Nel Medioevo, la funzione originaria del Teatro Romano fu dimenticata e cominciarono ad alterare l’ambiente stesso, costruendo intorno, la cui demolizione venne proposta nel 1863, ma il processo si completò definitivamente tra il 1933 e il 1941. Dopo importantissimi restauri, il Teatro Romano ha ospitato, nell'area adiacente, eventi culturali di livello, comunale, regionale e nazionale. Bellissimo, meraviglioso il Teatro Romano, ma non è tanto grande la zona del monumento, comunque va la pena di visitarlo, perché è molto suggestivo! 🤓😃 . . .
