I arrived in Milan after a long train journey. I was looking for my hotel which was walking distance but has to go thru underground passage and such. A gentleman who worked at the station stopped me and asked where I was going (I must’ve looked lost). Anyway, he tried to give me directions at first but I don’t understand Italian. So he proceeded to walk me almost all the way to my hotel and also helped me with my luggage going down the stairs. He was on the phone the whole time, I think work-related stuff. I’m from a big city so I was skeptical at first. But he didn’t ask for anything, and actually had to rush back to work. He didn’t hit on me either. I could tell it was just a little gesture for him and it meant nothing. He has no idea his gesture of kindness means more than just that to a traveler, a first time visitor to the city. Thank you. Read moreLocated at the point where three railway lines join (the high-speed line for Bologna and the traditional lines for Lodi - Piacenza and for Pavia - Genoa) and where the Milan railway belt begins, Rogoredo station has been transformed, from some years, from peripheral and secondary station in the southern gateway to Milan. With eight passing tracks where high-speed trains, long-distance trains, regional trains and suburban trains stop, and with five trunks tracks heading north where some S lines (suburban trains) terminate, it has become a very important hub. There are all the services, including the ticket offices of the different companies whose trains stop (Frecciarossa, Italo, Trenitalia, Trenord), a railway police station, bars and refreshment points. You can get there very well with the M3 subway (yellow), which connects it with the city center and Central Station and with two bus...

It does lack easy to find Restrooms....the closest was in one of the Coffee Shops. Many departing Tour Buses depart from this location. Taxi stands were empty when we returned from tour around 6pm on a Saturday, so Im guessing you need to be ready to make alternative transportation plans if you travel/tour out of that location on weekends. We walked around for over 30 minutes before finally getting a taxi at a nearby hotel. Pick pockets are rampant in this station and surrounding community so be on your guard. You will also note clear visibility of law...
