This was a disappointment. The material and content is here, but the tour was executed poorly. Our small group of 7 was hustled double time through much of the exhibit without much explanation. Ultimately we caught up to another group of 30 or so and were merged in with them. At 40, we were too big and unwieldy of a mass. With stone walls reflecting sound waves it was hard to hear our guide. Just think of 1 in 10 folks reacting to stale air in each chamber by coughing, sniffling, etc., and you have 4 or 5 of those folks making all that extra noise in a group of 40. Then there are other groups cycling through the labyrinth at the same time. A group of 20 hard hat wearing folks passed us and holed up 30 meters down the hall, yet all of their conversations and shuffling noise reflected into the chamber we were in and drowned out much of what our guide was saying. Additionally, there was a young couple in our group of 40 who brought along a baby and a stroller. They spent much of their time keeping their infant quiet. So, it wasn't as bad for us other group members but I would think their experience, on top of what else I have relayed, to be of not much fun at all. Though the artifacts and stories are here, if your group's size numbers more than 12-15 you should seriously consider requesting a refund. And this was in February, otherwise known...
Read moreBusy and smells of dogs, with kamikaze moped drivers zipping up and down the narrow, tourist filled streets. 2 stories above the many stalls of food and wares you can find partially washed underwear, hanging on the many washing lines. Driving in and out was probably the worst place I have ever driven, and I've driven in Sheffield. Car parking attendants are quick to jump in your car and park it, for a reasonable fee, but you won't have time to check if they robbed your things from the boot, before you are ushered off so they can squeeze the next car in ( to be fair, I don't think they robbed us). Driving down the tram lines seems to be tolerated by everyone if the traffic is jammed up. If you use the ferry port, be aware of the parking guides as one of them directed me into a bin ( didn't cause any damage). Saw 2 homeless people who were shouting obscenities at people. One was following a young girl who looked distressed, but he quickly diverted his attention to a passing car. His English wasn't bad. The other one was shouting in English at the sun and told it numerous times he was going to put its lights out. All up, probably best to...
Read moreAmazing tour - would even say one of the best guided tours I had recently. Interesting place and funky friendly guide with a great sense of humor. It could be longer but it took about an hour. There are a set times for tours in english but there was not as many visitors as we expected so it was really nice. We were here in the start of April (start of the tourist season) so no booking required - just went there randomly and were advised that the tour in EN will start in an hour. There's few coffee places near to wait. It is colder inside so it's good to have a jacket. Do note that you will finish the tour in the different side of the tunnel. Also the place accepts credit cards which we found really convinient (not really as usual as you would...
