Was looking forward to visiting the villa today as I'm sure it's a great experience. We bought Pompei Plus tickets in advance. Unfortunately, the last entrance for the separarated area of this villa and the other sites included in pompei plus is at the same time as for the whole archeological park that means at 15:30 at latest (!). This is not stated anywhere and is very unclear because it's located in the park itself. So why have a separarated entrance time? Additionally online and on displays they still advertise the summer opening times until 19:00. But since November 1st it closes at 17:00. So we paid for pompei plus without being able to visit this site. Because there were several people with us who stated the same I can imagine how many people will be disappointed daily and paid for nothing. Explanations by the staff was bad, they just stated that it's still displayed wrong on the monitors (!). Obviously this bad review is not for the archeological site itself, which is unbelievable in a positive way, but for the overall very bad organization by the operators. They are saturated by millions of tourists and their money and don't care about a good experience. Unfortunately you experience this often in this touristic area of...
Read moreMe and my friend didn’t know much about how to navigate the space when we speak no Italian. Staff was helpful with the questions we asked but didn’t offer any helpful tips to navigate on iur own. I wish I had researched a bit before I went. Tickets were easy to get. We were offered a guided tour and we decided not to take it. We had barely made half a mile and realized we will need a bit of narration and guide so went back and got ourselves one audio service. I was asked to leave a ID and receive it when we return the audio device back. I didn’t believe it was necessary to do this. I have no use for the device other than the guide for the time I was in Pompeii. Pay attention to the regions in the space. It helps breakdown the massive city. Each region is divided into numbers that you can click and listen to the details about this number. We spend total of about 3 and a half hour and it was sufficient for us to get back to the train. There is more to see but this was sufficient for me and my friend to visit for...
Read morePompeii was an incredible experience. However, before you go, I recommend looking up anything you would like to see, and making sure you know where it is on a map (like the garden of the fugitives). The site is absolutely massive. We had the audio tour, but it seemed like it was recorded in the reverse walking direction of how people currently enter and exit the site. We went into the villa of mysteries and never actually saw the famous fresco. Immediately upon entering, it told us to turn to the right. There is no way to go to the right from the current entrance. Once we had gone all the way through the building, we realized that the audio guide was in reverse. We should’ve turned left before get into the room with the plaster casts. Anyway, Pompeii was still an incredible experience. Just know that you might need multiple days to see everything and you’re going to want a...
