A place to be avoided at all costs! It's massive, they can cater for an army and they almost only cater for large groups of unlucky tourists. The tour guides and the tour operators get a commission for taking tourists here.
I don't know what they do with pizzas, because when a group of 50 people arrives, they bring out 50 pizzas within 3 minutes of sitting down, which is physically impossible, unless they are pre made and re-heated, or most likely frozen. They taste awful, the dough is something hard and chewy. Imagine... you come to Naples - the birthplace of pizza - to have an awful 😞 frozen pizza... REALLY DISGUSTING!! They have paper tablecloths, which in Italy is a big no-no, unless you are in a very cheap and very casual trattoria. I got a simple plate of pasta with zucchini; the pasta was well overcooked, the sauce was extremely salty and I usually eat more salty than the average Italian, the color wasn't right and it was sort of floating in what you could almost define as a watery soup. Most definitely not what this dish is supposed to look like. I wanted a coffee, but they didn't have decaf, so I went for an ice cream and never I would've imagined that in Italy I would've been served a McDonald's ice cream in a plastic cup. I was actually wondering why the waiter didn't ask me what flavor ice cream I wanted... there is only one flavor and...
Read moreI'm not sure if I can be a great judge of how the restaurant is ordinarily, since I was there with a bus tour. We were served and fed practically "factory line" style, with the food coming out sporadically. Lunch was three courses, with salad, pizza and a small pieces of cake. Depending on what type of pizza you ordered, service was either fast or slow. For instance, my pizza was one of the first to come out for the entire bus, but the other 3 at my table got their pizzas after everyone else on the bus, to the point where some had been served dessert and coffee. There was no service beyond staff plunking a plate in front of you and moving on.
The food itself was good and filling, considering that it was an included lunch with our tour. One drink (soda or water) had been included, but coffee or tea or another soda/water was additional cost. There was no question of gluten-free or any other type of diet accommodations. The pizzas were really tasty and different from what...
Read moreWe ate hear part of our City Wonders day trip from Rome to Pompeii. When I heard we are getting lunch part of the tour I was hoping for an authentic small restraint in the heart of Naples serving world famous napoleonic pizza. But to my surprise, we were brought to a huge restaurant, almost like a conference center, where we were sitting in groups of 6. Our tour guides placed the pizza order ahead of time to speed up the process, but it didn't help out. The restaurant was extremely hot due to the lack of working ACs, this made waiting for the pizzas miserable. I was pleasantly surprised that we were offered a free drink and salad prior to the pizza. To finish off after waiting for about 45 minutes, we were given our pipping hot pizzas. The pizza was phenomenal, while I know that we could have gotten better pizza in Naples, this pizza definitely satisfied my hunger after climbing...
