Cannolo Terapia — Attraction in Syracuse

The cannoli was really good, with the ricotta cream fresh and sweet, but not cloyingly so. The coffee was also strong and aromatic, as I would expect from an Italian cafe. The owner was also friendly, proudly allowing us to sample his gelato before we decide on a flavour.

The only gripe I have about this place has nothing to do with the food or service. It is the use of single-use plastic spoons and cups! It would rest much easier on the environmentally conscious if they could switch to something more sustainable, like paper or...

L'arroganza del proprietario nei miei confronti è stata proprio allucinante. Non ho parole. Da straniero mi sono sempre sentito accolto bene in Italia, sempre con molta cortesia, questo qua invece mi ha praticamente coperto di insulti perché non gli era piaciuto quello che volevo ordinare. Pretendeva di decidere lui cosa mi porta. Eravamo con un gruppo di amici, seduti al tavolo ma la cameriera ci ha chiesto di ordinare al bar. Va bene, ci siamo andati. Dovevo tradurre per aiutare un mio amico tedesco ad ordinare. Per me avevo gentilmente ordinato un caffè e avevo chiesto se avevano la iris fritta. Il proprietario rispose di no e si mise a mettermi qualche altro dolce. Io a sto punto avevo chiesto se potevo avere un cannolo. La è partita la predica che il cannolo non lo posso prendere col caffè etc etc. Va bene, mi sono messo ad aspettare. Dopo un bel po arriva il maestro dei cannoli con il suo dono prezioso fra le dita e me lo mette davanti a me dicendo: "volevi un cannolo, vero, ecco". Poi mi copre di insulti. Alla fine ci siamo stati tipo 40 minuti, il mio caffè non è mai arrivato, ne prima ne dopo. Alla fine dovevamo di nuovo far fila a pagare (i prezzi dal listino "a tavolo" ovviamente). E il caffè che non era mai arrivato l'abbiamo poi trovato sullo scontrino. Forse il cannolo era buono ma lo ricorderó come l'esperienza più brutta del mio soggiorno in Sicilia. Peccato! I found this place while waking back from the Archeological Park and honestly, it was one of the highlights of the day. Cannoli was absolutely the most delicious ever. The owner of the place was super friendly and lovely with us as well, taking our pictures eating the cannoli. Ice cream was amazing as well, definitely recommend it. Overall, it was a small place with little to no tourists (we were the only ones I think when we went there) and it was one of the best cafes I’ve been...
