I had the absolute pleasure of visiting a halal pizza shop in Venice, Italy, and I have to say it completely exceeded my expectations. Finding halal food while traveling can sometimes be a challenge, especially in cities where it's not always clearly marked, but this place was a true hidden gem. Tucked away in one of the charming side streets just off the main tourist path, the shop had an unassuming exterior but a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside.

The pizza was easily one of the best I've had not just in Italy, but anywhere. The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the center, clearly handmade and baked in a traditional stone oven. The tomato sauce was rich and tangy, and the cheese was beautifully melted and flavorful. They offered a variety of toppings, including halal spicy chicken, and even vegetarian options perfectly balanced flavors, fresh ingredients, and incredibly satisfying.

Another huge plus was how clean and well-kept everything was. The shop had limited seating, but it was cozy and comfortable. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the central location in Venice.

I would give 3.75 if I could, as it was pretty good. But not great. So I can’t give it a 4. (I don’t know what the rave reviews are about, but maybe the pizza is stellar- we didn’t have any). If you want a decent doner, you will be happy. If it is late, and maybe you have the munchies, you might even be thrilled. The flavours were good, the ingredients were fresh, although I felt like they skimped on the vegetables a bit- like more onion and more tomato would’ve been nice, and more hot sauce, too, as an option. I’d’ve paid extra for that. The service was friendly and accommodating, and I do think they care about serving up decent food. They didn’t point out that we’d ordered a combo, and I only realized after we paid that we could’ve gotten a discount. The reactions in our group ranged from “it was terrible” to “it was really tasty,” with mine being somewhere in between those two.
