TRATTORIA PIZZERIA AE DO MARIE — Restaurant in Venice

This was, quite simply, the best meal experience we had in Venice. We nearly didn't stop as there was no terrace seating at the front. Little did we know that the beautiful and tranquil garden lay at the back.

The food was incredible and not only was the guy who served us able to recommend things, take into account our tastes etc, but he seemed to have a deep understanding of not only the ingredients used but what went on in the kitchen. It was amazing to have someone serving us who knew the food in the restaurant so well.

Speaking of the food, wow. I had the ravioli verdure and it was simply delicious. Veggie good can sometimes lack flavour in restaurants as they seem to see veggie dishes as an 'add on', not so here. Awesome pasta and amazing veg and flavours. My mum had a salmon tagliatelle. Again, it looked awesome and she assured me it tastes incredible too.

For dessert, I had a tiramasu, which was very tasty and my mum treated herself to profiteroles.

Cash only - not publicly posted. Traveling in the winter, this was a good spot to dip in for a calm beverage and small bite. However, we didn't learn they only accepted cash until we went to pay. As luck would have it, the ATM was our next stop after, but we're out of cash. After wandering around to find a cash machine, I returned to inform the owner that we would not have entered if we knew it was cash only. Shame on me for not having cash at all times, but in a huge tourist town like Venice and for it to not be publicly posted is...

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. My friend and I were studying abroad last summer in Venice and stumbled upon this restaurant. Its the best most authentic Italian food we had in Venice. We were treated like family by the staff and chef and left VERY full and happy. The house wine is wonderful, four cheese pizza, calamari, their signature squid ink pasta... ALL is with love.
