The Beppu Jigoku Meguri, also known as the Hell's Tour, is an extraordinary and captivating experience that I had the privilege of enjoying during my visit to Beppu, Japan. This unique tour takes you on a journey through a surreal and otherworldly landscape of natural hot springs, known as "hells." The first thing that struck me was the sheer diversity of the hells. Each one is distinct, with its own mesmerizing colors, temperatures, and unique features. From the bright red Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) to the bubbling Oniishibozu Jigoku (Oniishibozu Hell), every stop on the tour offers something truly unforgettable. The tour is well-organized and informative, with clear explanations about the geological and historical significance of each hell. It's not only visually stunning but also educational, providing insights into the natural wonders of Beppu. One of the highlights of the Beppu Jigoku Meguri is the opportunity to sample local cuisine cooked using the steam from the hot springs. From steamed custard to eggs and vegetables, the food is delicious and unique, adding to the overall cultural experience. The tour is accessible and can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. The paths and walkways are well-maintained, making it easy to explore and take in the breathtaking sights. Additionally, the tour offers both indoor and outdoor hells, ensuring that you can enjoy the experience regardless of the weather. The staff at the hells are friendly and helpful, providing assistance and answering any questions you may have. The souvenir shops in the vicinity offer a chance to take home some beautifully crafted local goods and gifts. In conclusion, the Beppu Jigoku Meguri is an absolute must-visit when exploring Beppu, Japan. It's a one-of-a-kind experience that immerses you in the surreal beauty of nature's hot springs while offering cultural insights and delicious local cuisine. I highly recommend taking the time to embark on this incredible journey through the hells of Beppu; it's an adventure you'll remember for a lifetime.

I experienced the Beppu “Jigoku Meguri” (Hell Tour) — a unique and unforgettable hot spring sightseeing route ♨️! I started at Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) and bought the all-access pass for ¥2,400, which covers all 7 hells. Since the entrance fee for each site is ¥500, the pass is worth it if you’re visiting five or more spots 💡. If you only have time for one, I highly recommend Umi Jigoku — the vivid blue hot spring with rising white steam is absolutely stunning and photogenic 🔵☁️. In the past, I had only visited Chinoike Jigoku and Tatsumaki Jigoku, but this time I toured all 7 locations and enjoyed it way more than expected! The most memorable were Umi Jigoku and Oniyama Jigoku (the crocodile hell) 🐊. Watching the crocodiles fight was intense and really grabbed everyone’s attention. However, one downside: while managing the crowd, a staff member gave rather harsh instructions 🚫. I understand it’s for safety, but a slightly gentler tone would help preserve the relaxed atmosphere. Still, it’s an amazing way to feel the raw power of nature and geothermal energy, and a true highlight of Beppu. If you have the time and energy, visiting all 7 hells is definitely worth it! 🔥

The Hells of Beppu (Beppu Jigoku Meguri) is a renowned tourist attraction in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, Japan. It consists of seven unique hot springs, each with distinct features and vibrant colors. These hot springs are primarily for viewing due to their high temperatures: 1. Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell): Known for its cobalt blue water. 2. Oniishibozu Jigoku (Oni Monk's Head Hell): Features boiling mud resembling monks' heads. 3. Shiraike Jigoku (White Pond Hell): Light blue water and a nearby tropical fish aquarium. 4. Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell): Boiling ponds and a demon statue cooking snacks. 5. Oniyama Jigoku (Monster Mountain Hell): Home to about 70 crocodiles and alligators. 6. Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell): Hot red mud pond. 7. Tatsumaki Jigoku (Tornado Hell): Erupting geyser every 30-40 minutes. The Beppu Jigoku Meguri tour takes about 3-5 hours and offers a fascinating glimpse into the natural geothermal activity and beauty of Beppu. 🌋😊 Do note that Chinoike Jigoku and Tatsumaki Jigoku are quite far from the rest of the hells, so plan accordingly to make the most of your visit!
