別府八湯の一つの鉄輪温泉の鎮守神。温泉神社 (別府市青山町)にあるとは、直接の関係はありません。1941年（昭和16年）にはひょうたん温泉の創業者である河野順作がこの神社に土地1,286坪を献納しており、1950年（昭和25年）には参道入口に順作の頌徳碑が建立されていましたがもう無いようです。ここはもうお参り出来る様な神社ではありません。 温泉神社の上に神社の様な建物がありますが、それは温泉神社ではなく地元では、あさり業で知られる近隣のホテルさんの庭（一部）だそうです。なので温泉神社とお間違えなく。今回も神社庁（全国8万社の神社を包括する組織）の友人に問い合わせしましたが、温泉神社の移転ではないとの事。 本物の温泉神社の建物は周りの工事の影響か？うす汚れていて、灯篭等も破損していてみすぼらしく、管理がされていない様なので、お参りする気にもなりません。ここには全く行く必要を感じません。 何故か、近隣からのこの辺の評判はすごく悪い。
