This is the oldest shrine dedicated to Mt. Fuji’s deity — yet, unlike what one might expect, it is not grand or ornate. The main hall is simple, wooden, and unpainted, with a distinctive roof shape that draws the eye. I actually found this understated style very appealing — it gives the place a quiet dignity rather than a sense of grandeur. Unfortunately, the inner part of the shrine is not open to visitors, with access limited to the shrine’s priests and staff.

On the grounds, there is also a bright red structure, but it serves only a minor function and contrasts sharply with the more natural, subdued tones of the main sanctuary.

What truly stands out is the beautiful tree-lined approach, flanked by tall, ancient cedars and stone lanterns. Walking through it, you can feel the weight of history and a calm, spiritual presence that suits the sacred...

This way you can approach the shrine from the long tree lined path. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Much very much publicized. I wonder discovered...

Beautiful shrine around lake kawaguchiko, go along the trail to the right to the main entrance of the shrine. The shrine is a stop on the kawaguchiko tourist bus pass which is great to have of you are planing to stay 2 days in the area. You can get the Shrine stamp so don't forget to bring your stamp...
