This is the oldest shrine dedicated to Mt. Fuji’s deity — yet, unlike what one might expect, it is not grand or ornate. The main hall is simple, wooden, and unpainted, with a distinctive roof shape that draws the eye. I actually found this understated style very appealing — it gives the place a quiet dignity rather than a sense of grandeur. Unfortunately, the inner part of the shrine is not open to visitors, with access limited to the shrine’s priests and staff.

On the grounds, there is also a bright red structure, but it serves only a minor function and contrasts sharply with the more natural, subdued tones of the main sanctuary.

What truly stands out is the beautiful tree-lined approach, flanked by tall, ancient cedars and stone lanterns. Walking through it, you can feel the weight of history and a calm, spiritual presence that suits the sacred...

The oldest shrine in the Fuji area. Old shrine has wonderful animal carvings above the front pillars. When you entire, follow the suggested course by turning right. This way you can approach the shrine from the long tree lined path. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Much very much publicized. I wonder discovered...

Beautiful shrine around lake kawaguchiko, go along the trail to the right to the main entrance of the shrine. The shrine is a stop on the kawaguchiko tourist bus pass which is great to have of you are planing to stay 2 days in the area. You can get the Shrine stamp so don't forget to bring your stamp...
