Walking on Mikasa Beach was a delightful experience. The beach, with its soft, sandy shores and gentle waves, provided a serene and relaxing atmosphere. As I strolled along the coastline, I enjoyed the fresh sea breeze and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.
The view from Mikasa Beach was stunning, with a clear horizon and the sight of nearby islands dotting the seascape. The beach was clean and well-maintained, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely walk. Along the way, I encountered a few local vendors selling snacks and souvenirs, adding a touch of local charm to the experience.
One of the unique highlights was the friendly deer that roamed freely on the beach. These gentle creatures would often come near, curious and unafraid, adding an enchanting element to the visit. The beach also offered a great vantage point for watching boats and ferries passing by, including the JR West Miyajima Ferry heading to and from Miyajima Island. Overall, walking on Mikasa Beach was a peaceful and enjoyable way to take in the natural beauty...
Read moreGetting down from ship in Miyajima Sanbashi ferry terminal, there is a huge promenade where lots of people can take walk and sit. There are deer in this place asking for food and love. On the opposite side of the road there are shops for food, luxury items and souvenirs. A big shop, Lawson is there for food items. From there a path goes by the sea to temple gate. This is the sea front and you can go to beach to see the sea. You can continue up to floating orange torigate and if it is low tide you can touch the gate. This walk by the sea side is a great experience. After the last ship departs from the island the place becomes very quiet. Not many tourists stay in the island and everything becomes calm. The shrine, the path, the torigate, everything becomes lighted and it is a nice experience. To get this experience we stayed overnight in the island and saw the sea in daylight and in night. It is a nice experience. When the sea water recedes one can get beautiful views of...
Read moreA must see scenic spot! Walk along the coast from the ferry terminal on the pathway to these gates. Lots of great photo spots, keep walking down ahead of the crowds as there is more space for photos.
This area gets very busy around 11AM. We got here around 930AM and it was perfect. The tour groups start to arrive around 10AM-11AM so try to avoid as they take up a lot of space and are loud.
You can keep walking along the coast after this gate as there is more to see! Most people stay in this area so it gets pretty crowded.
Lots of deer around here, try to get a picture with a deer and the gate that is iconic!
There is lots of seating along the pathway with small stores so can grab a snack and eat with a view. Most stores don’t open until after 11AM.
No tickets needed to enter.
Washrooms are before the large gate entrance. There are few public washrooms around so...
