Kajisan — Restaurant in Hiroshima

I made the mistake of not taking a picture of my okonomiyaki, which—while partially because I was just taking in the exquisite vibes—is mostly because I’m stupid.

This shop is fantastic. It must be four feet wide, never renovated, and probably ripped directly out of some scene from an old film. The sweet elderly lady that runs this place has been doing it for more than 50 years, and her craft (creating okonomiyaki) has been perfected. Fresh ingredients, delicious sauce, all handmade with love. It’s delicious, there’s not much more to say.

広島でお好み焼きを食べるならここでしょう。¥500-でボリュームたっぷり、とても美味しいです。初めて、広島でいただくお好み焼きを美味しいと思いました。すでに80代を越えた優しいお母さんが丁寧に焼いてくれます。 比治山公園の麓、比治山トンネルを西へ出た「鶴海橋東詰」交差点の東南角から3軒ほどトンネル方向へ西に進んだ南側にあります。赤いのれんが目印です。なお、駐車場はお店からさらに東へトンネル方向へ向かった共用駐車場に3台分あります。大きくお店の名前が書いてありますのですぐに分かると思います。 鉄板前の特等席が2席、カウンターとなるテーブル席が4席ととても狭いですが、雰囲気とともに楽しみましょう。回転は早いため、鉄板前の特等席が空いたら移動することをお勧めします。いくつかの案内サイトには「8席」とありますが、8人は座れません。6人が精一杯です。 メニューは、そば入りお好み焼き、うどん入りお好み焼き、焼きそば、または焼きうどん、以上です。「おまかせスペシャル」と「関西風まぜ焼き」もありますが、邪道ではないでしょうか。 まず、入店前にお母さんへ一言声を掛けましょう。座る場所を指示されまして着席したら、メニューを眺めて、テーブル上のメモ帳へオーダーを記入するよう指示されます。店内左側にウォーターサーバーはありますが壊れています。お好み焼きができるタイミングでお母さんがコップと水を出してくれますので、しばらく待ちましょう。「郷に入っては郷に従え」です。鉄板の前に座ることができると熱々のお好み焼きをコテでいただくことができます。カウンターテーブルに座ってしまうと、お皿で提供されるため少し味わいも落ちるかもしれません。やっぱり鉄板の前でいただきたいですね。 ドリンクメニューはありません。ただ、冷蔵庫の中には、アサヒスーパードライの缶ビールと瓶ビールが入っています。もしかしたら提供していただけるかもしれません。 お客さんは比較的少なく混雑することはないと思いますが、テイクアウトや電話でのオーダーが多いのでしょうか、お母さんはずっと忙しそうに暇なくお好み焼きを焼いておられます。時々、お父さんが自転車での配達と仕入れから戻ってこられて、また配達へ出かけて行かれます。そのやりとりをみていてもほんわかします。余談となりますが、お母さんはお客さんにはとても優しいですが、お父さんには毒舌でとても冷たくぶっきらぼうです。 な...
