Suddenly, there is old man from the house insist to enter this house, he cannot speak english really well, but tried his best to accompany us. Do me a favor, visit this inherit house. The old man even allow us to chill for a while after stroll around the city.

‘The tea room, Shoutou-an, was originally built in the 19th century as a living room of the house called Fuyu-en in Tokyo by Maeda Nariyasu, the 12th lord of Kanazawa.’ When we visited the site, there was an old gentleman who gave us a quick but very informative tour of the place. It has a small but well-kept garden.

この建物は江戸時代末期、加賀藩12代藩主 前田斉泰により建てられました。 その後、昭和11年（1936）前田家16代 利為より、独立した数奇屋風の茶室として整備され「松涛庵」と命名されました。昭和54年（1979）金沢市内に移築され、平成13年（2001）金沢市が取得したものです。 通常は見学もできますが、金沢21世紀美術館に申し込むと各種条件はあるものの趣旨が合えば安価で貸し出しをしてくれます。申請書の書式は一見難しそうでしたが、担当の方が電話口にてていねいに教えてくださり、またアドバイスもいただいたことですんなりと申し込みができました。昼過ぎから半日利用させていただきました。 建物はその文化的な価値を愛おしむかのように細かいところまで掃除が行き届き、利用させていただく側も心が引き締まる思いでした。太陽が移動するとともに、庭から差し込む光線が強いものからやわらかくやさしい光に刻一刻と変化していき、さまざまな顔を見せてくれました。 庭の緑も鮮やかで、立札席のガラス越しに差し込む光がエメラルド色に輝き特別な場所を意識させます。 松涛庵は広く開放的な茶室で、お茶の経験が浅くてもリラックスして利用ができました。 庭を見学しているときに、無頓着に歩くと管理の男性に「飛び石の上を歩くように」と注意を受けました。そして、注意をするだけでなく庭の苔を守ることや、文化的なことを教えてくださりました。このような方に守られているということで、更に安心感がありました。また、他にもいろいろと親切に教えてくださり深く感謝しております。 21世紀美術館という未来的なものを思い浮かべる名称の施設敷地内に伝統的な茶室の存在。アンバランス感が興味をそそります。そしてその興味に負けない魅力的な建物。とても素敵な体験をさせていただきありがとうございました。
