Moji Telecommunication Museum — Attraction in Kitakyushu

If you are interested in the history of of telecommunications (and analog era 8n particular), this is THE museum to visit. Some exhibited items were in working order and could be operated by visitors; more delicate machines could be demonstrated by staff, and I was REALLY lucky to witness a demo by the curator herself. Last but not least: it's free with no admission fee, and usually needs no line to queue (I have to admit that this is a niched area...

This is a free to enter museum hosted by NTT in an old exchange building. It covers the history of telecoms in Japan, with phones from all eras, working exchange equipment demonstrations, and lots more information. Google Translate did a good job helping me read the signage! If you reserve in advance you can also see the exchange gear on the 2nd floor - the electromechanical crosspoint switches were a highlight for an old telecom geek like me!...
