I had the most memorable experience at this local market, thanks to my friend who brought me here. It’s the kind of place you’d probably miss if you weren’t with someone who knows the area—but once you're in, it feels like stepping into the heart of the community. The market was alive with color, scent, and energy. From the friendly vendors to the vibrant stalls selling everything from handmade goods to seasonal produce, it was a real cultural treat.
The highlight for me was trying the regional specialty foods. My friend guided me through what to try, and I got to taste some incredible dishes I probably wouldn’t have discovered on my own. The flavors were so rich and unique—clearly made with local ingredients and a lot of love. It was the kind of food experience that makes you feel deeply connected to a place.
Whether you're a foodie, a traveler looking for an authentic experience, or just someone who enjoys soaking in the atmosphere of local life, I can't recommend this market enough. It’s not just about shopping—it’s a sensory journey that stays with you long...
Read moreGreat experience in the market. There are many kinds of food stands to choose with reasonable price. You can find traditional Kochi food stand, Indian food, western style like pizza and pasta, Taiwanese good, and sushi. If you visit here with a group of friends, you do not have to worry that you cannot reach the agreement of food option. Once you pick the food you’d like, sometimes it’s not that easy to find seats. The food market provide toilets too, tidy and clean as usual Japanese style. The only concern for foreign visitor is that food menu does not really have English, yet comes with pictures. A great place to rest a bit when you spend the whole morning in Sunday market. Personally I will recommend the very popular stand which sell grilled fish at the entrance. Try to avoid lunch time around 12:00-13:00 or it will take you almost 50...
Read moreVisited Hirome Market twice. Once in the morning before lunch time and once in the afternoon. Both times it wasn't crowded at all but quite a few of the restaurants and stalls were closed. They do require you to sanitise your hands and take your temperature at the entrance as well as keep your mask on when not eating/drinking. Everyone is really friendly and willing to share share information about their food/drinks/snacks and about Kochi itself. There are many picnic style tables throughout for you to sit at and enjoy your meals and they have been implementing social distancing measures where they only allow 4 people per table. There is a fruit and juice stand in the middle and for those who like tangy refreshing juices with pulp I would highly recommend their Buntan Juice 👌 you can also get ice cream on top and turn it...
