Myojinmaru Obiyamachi — Restaurant in Kochi

Everyone here exhibited great kindness, patience, and professionalism. One of my "must-do" goals in Kochi was learning the great art of warayaki. A few days before coming I phoned here to make sure they could teach me. Having received the restaurants' consent, we went at first by error to their Hirome location. An enployee not only explained our mistake to us, she actually walked us for about 10 minutes all the way to the right place! The chef and other employees who gave me the warayaki class was very knowledgeable, and patiently answered all my questions with great enthusiasm. Whenever I asked something too specific and they did not know, they would actually ask me to wait and went to find out by checking with each other, or even making a phone call in once case. Not only did I leave with plethora of knowledge but the katsuo tataki came out absolutely, mouthwateringly delicious (I am picky about my warayaki, and do know a good one from a great one). Wonderful Izakaya in the shopping gallery - book ahead as its very popular. The special dishes are the seared bonito filet and freshly rolled sushi,but my husband had a wagyu beef tepanyaki, delicious, and I had steam clams in saké, waow and the fried chicken. Absolutely loved this place. We happened to walk by and just pop in and it was a great decision. The actual restaurant is far better than the hirome market branch and possibly cheaper.
