I wish I could give this place 6 stars for their atmosphere alone. It may seem a bit intimidating from the outside but once you enter you will find yourself in another world. It really feels like you stepped into a little slice of a Ghibli movie. The music and ligting will calm you mind and I definitely recommend this place for a good writing or reading session. The service was top notch, definitly make you feel welcome and are quite attentive during your stay. The food is very reasonably priced and the brunch set was incredible. The fries are nice and crispy and the salad was so good I brought some of their dressing for home. The coffee... The Coffee... THE COFFEE WAS GREAT! Their siphon coffee was excellent and not acidic at all. I had two cups and felt fully refreshed while writing. Will definitely go again and if you are on the fence please take that step inside and you won't be dissapointed.

Inside, it’s all about the old school Japanese kissaten coffee shop vibe, complete with classical BGM. Mephistopheles serves “morning” breakfast sets all day and both these and the lunch plates seem to be centered around “hot sandwiches” or “toasties” as we call them in the UK. Vegetarians be warned that the potato and egg filling also comes with bonus slices idle ham - so best ask for no ham (“hamu-nashi”) if you’d like to avoid that. Siphon Coffee was also pretty good and I loved the design on the inside of the cups.

It's quite intimidating for people of younger generation to come in, but their cakes, coffee and especially affogato are really high-quality and affordable. Bonus point for no services tax— and you can stay as long as you want!
