Mr A was slightly apprehensive but persuaded him to give another local market a go!

Atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. Although not on show, when you get to the counter they bring out an English translation of the menu.

Recommend you get there early for lunch - we arrived around 11am - one area was really full but we managed to get seats in another.

Another tip - if you’re lucky enough to find seat (or if you’re early and it looks like seats won’t be a problem) ensure you put a hat or something on the table place where you plan to sit - thus worked a treat and was what locals were doing.

One of the shops inside Hirome Market, it's one of the bigger ones right by the main entrance so there's usually a line during peak hours. Their main dish is the katsuo tataki that Kochi is famous for, you'll be able to see them grill the fish as you wait in line.
