I visited the store on tuesday 10th December 2024.
The store was very quiet it was just me inside the shop. After I gathered my items and the ones that were limited edition to the ginkakuji store. (hence why I have given 2 stars instead of 1. Because of the products they had which were really good.)
I went to the till to pay for item and met the store clerk. Who was the only person in the store. As I gave her my items she didn't even greet me. I said hi to her and she barely even looked at me. (Although she had a mask on) I can tell she wasn't friendly from the aura she was giving me. She proceeded to scan my items and I simply just asked her if there was any tax free. She just rudely pointed at the table that showed me "not tax free store" which is fine but you don't have to be so rude about it. After she carried on to scan my items and I asked if I could check the cup before she puts it in the bag. And she suddenly just raised her voice and shouted "WAIT A MINUTE" Very rudely and with hand gestures. I didn't even raise my voice nor was I shouting at her. I simply asked her a question and she rudely responded.
I also wanted to buy extra paper shopping bags to take home and she looked shocked that I wanted to and she rolled her eyes and whispered something in japanese under her breath.
I was so shocked and upset that I really wanted to say to her you are being really rude and just walk out. But I didn't because the products I wanted were limited edition to the ginkakuji store. And I really wanted to purchase it for my kids. Had the products not been limited edition I 100% would...
Read moreGood place for Sumikkogurashi's fans looking for Sumikkogurashi's collectible items. Went there to try the Sumikkogurashi castella, 12 pieces for around 560 Yen. The shape is Sumikkogurashi of course so they're cute. Taste wise, I personally feel they're just so-so. Maybe they taste better when they're warm. Castella is dry, not moist at all, just plain castella. There's a pop-up castella store (main shop is in Ohara)in front of Daikokuya Supermarket every Monday which I prefer much more, one of the best even. For the same price with the Sumikkogurashi ones, I could get 15-20 pieces and they're still soft and moist even when...
Read moreIf you're into sumikko gurashi characters then this is the place to be! This store is larger than the one by Kiyomizudera, and they have special, limited edition goods here. (To be fair, so does the Kiyomizudera store) This store also has sumikko shaped snack and drinks that you can buy. I brought friends here and they spent so much time here they almost ran out of time to visit Ginkakuji, which was the...
