The tree diversity of the castle hill that is the central theme is beautiful any time of year! It is so natural and wild yet at the same time surrounded by that which is more tame. The beautiful magical old castle sitting on top of the hill lends a feeling of place and timelessness. The park itself is expansive and you will see people doing anything from practicing hula dancing and karate to playing their ocarina, blowing bubbles and flying kites. They're often food trucks by the bike parking and the food trucks here are usually really good. They are small trucks and not tacky and overwhelming so they don't take away from the aesthetic of the park (though I wish some of them wouldn't run generators but I imagine they have to.) It has a nice bike and walking path throughout the entire park and makes you feel even more comfortable as you are surrounded by things like a pond, a museum, a library, a lover's Garden and various other attractions strewn throughout the park. I think the most enjoyable thing here is the Matsuyama vibe. It's like country folk who live in the city instead of the other way around and it's real and welcoming. Beautiful Sakura viewing in Spring. Actually my only complaint is it could have a lot more trees!
