Awful, awful experience in Okinawa. Lady yells at you in Japanese(?) if you snorkel in the snorkelling area. The signs in English read, "Diving and Snorkelling area". Yet someone from an office comes out and yells at you in Japanese, crossing their arms, and gesturing at you rudely to get out while you are snorkelling. It is not logical. It is not logical to have signs in English, leading you along the boardwalk to the "Diving and Snorkelling area", then have someone in Japanese arguing and gesturing for you to get out. Is this not a public area? Is it not for gaijin? If there are reasons why I can't snorkel in the "Diving and Snorkelling" area, then put them up in English as well. I went over to the office afterwards, and she just kept snarling a phrase over and over in another language. Put that up in English. What an ugly experience. The...
Read morePark itself was fine, but had a terrible experience when I went into the water. Multiple signage with maps in English all along Naminoue Beach to here designate this spot as a "Diving and Snorkeling Area". Signage would lead most to think this is a public snorkeling area... except if you go in you'll have people very angrily yelling at you to get out. On talking with staff at nearby dive rental place, I was told you're only allowed to go in the water here if you have a paid instructor with you. Signage needs to be improved. Fellow divers, you're not missing much here, despite breakwaters, visibility was terrible (at least this time of year,...
Read moreBay has a sign that says diving and snorkeling area. Being a public park, anyone would have thought use of this place would be free. After snorkeling for awhile, lady from a nearby diving centre shouted at us to get the hell out of the water. Apparently, you can't use the place if you don't meet certain conditions (eg. Pay ¥4000 to learn snorkeling from them when you already know how). No wonder the place was so empty on a weekend...
Apart from that, park is pretty nice. Would have given this place a better review if not for the...
