There are English explanations of the key items like calligraphy brushes, Akahada pottery, wooden masks, tea whisks and hand woven hemp cloth. In case you didnt know, there are 2 ceramics personally signed by Prince Charles and Camelia who visited this place back in 2008.

Small but super high quality museum of local in pottery, glasswork, fabrics, woodwork, paper works and calligraphy / ink. Entrance is free, photos are allowed, there's even an option to practice copying a scroll by yourself. In addition the museum includes a library on the second floor.

At the time of my visit, this free museum had 3 small exhibits which I enjoyed walking through. If you are interested in hand made art from local artists, definitely make a stop here. It's a beautiful building with beautiful art! The gift shop is full of items from local artists. I would also suggest making a stop at the Nara Dung Beetle Museum, just a few...

Very nice little museum! The exhibitions were focused and provided a breadth of knowledge/artifacts/works surrounding said focuses. There was an artisan there demonstrating their wood carving techniques--one (very lovely) staff member told us that this is a common treat during the summertime. Thank you for letting us take a peek into Nara...
