There are information boards in English available, so if you don't want to speak to staff, it is not necessary. (Though I think you should at least greet them, haha) I love kimono, so when I saw that they have kimono you can try on, I was very happy. They helped me into a furisode, and the knot on the back was just gorgeously done. I had a lot of time, so we talked very long about kimono and about how it is in my country (the Netherlands). Read moreWe have visited two houses like this one in Nara, and this is our favorite. The house is really peaceful and quiet and pretty. The lady at the reception is really nice, she gave us two little dear origamis (they made it to France and are now on the top of our dresser!). We also had the chance to have a painting initiation; the lady wasn't speaking english but we still learnt a lot and we left with our drawings!
