cafe maru — Restaurant in Nara

🥞 cafe maru is a proof you can eat delicious pancakes in Japan for which you don't have to wait 3h 🥞

We went there for our breakfast after 12:00, there was one available table in the main area. At first I was bummed that chicken and fries were unavailable and I had to opt for pancakes - how glad I am there was no other option available for me!

Pancakes are quite unique, nothing I've had before. They come already precut into manageable pieces, the composition is also quite good looking. Their texture and taste were delightful, the overall impression for my egg/bacon/maple syrup/cheese sauce was excellent.

My partner got the banana/mango/chocolate sauce/ice cream/whipped cream and said these were the best pancakes in her life (and she is the pancake eater from the two of us).

All topped with caramel latte and yuzu tea, for everything we paid a little over 5000 JPY.

❤️ This place should satisfy not only pancake lovers but also coffee drinkers as I know they are proud of their blends. Overall, cafe maru is now marked with a ❤️ on our personal Nara map and we'll be more than happy to visit...

Hip as all get out. A popular, visually and aurally interesting place to take a seat and enjoy yourself. Look out for the daruma in the rafters! The pancakes are a delight, I went for the classic with ice cream on the side and loved every bite. I also had a latte, which was very light and fluffy, but had some kick lurking in it.

The staff were conscientious and sweet to me during my solo visit, especially when they figured out I had to eat to take some medication. (I didn't tell them, but the sound of blister packs popping is a universal sign, I guess!) If you've got a bit of budget, drop in for a visit and take your time...

We went in to buy pancakes for each of us and a coffee for my partner but could not order in the end because we did not have enough cash and we were obligated to buy a drink each. That does not make any sense since we would have anyways spent over 5000 ¥. But this seems to not be enough for them and therefore we were not allowed to order :( very disappointing.
