An absolutely wonderful place to visit! So glad to have experienced such a fun and friendly place with a wonderfully enchanting cause of restoring 300 year old toys! Had so much fun playing with all the variety of toys and the elderly couple who set up the museum and the English translator were so friendly. So worth the visit. Absolutely free to visit, accepts donations to their cause - no mention or pressure to donate at all, just a little box at the reception area. Loved it so much, glad to have donated. Would definitely visit again.

#1 favorite experience in Nara. We had so much fun playing with the traditional toys. The staff was funny, engaging, and spoke excellent English. We would have stayed for hours, but wanted to be respectful of others' experience. It turned out our visit here was a great investment to our trip overall and was informative to other museum visits later. Great place for adults and kids alike.

Had so much fun! Probably my favorite place I visited in Nara. It is English friendly and good for both adults and kids! You can interact and play with all the toys they have there. However, there is no gift shop and you can only purchase one toy to take home, which was a little sad. Small place but you could easily spend a half hour or hour at the house.

So much fun! The owners are very friendly and passionate. They will walk you through how to play with each toy and even play together with you! The toys come with descriptions (although some are only in Japanese). They're displayed on tables over a tatami room (take off your shoes before you enter!) Overall, one of my favorite parts of Nara.

We had a good time here. The two ladies showed us how to play. One even used a translator machine to explain how the toys are played. We bought a guessing book for 700 yen which uses binary theory. I think The ancient civilisation generations are more intelligent than us cos nowadays we rely more on computers than our brains

An old traditional Japanese house converted into a toy museum. Staffed by very friendly (mostly) elderly Japanese who go out of their way (using translators) to explain how to play the traditional toys. Very interesting and fun experience, could spend an hour here. All young and old will enjoy :)
